CHAPTER 4
Diego
"You are already back, sweetie," Nelly said, giving me a sour, displeased expression.
"Yes, I cannot wait any longer to make you mine; the previous 5 years without you, Nelly, have been agony; please do not ever leave me again," I begged, kneeling with my hands on her lap.
"I am not going anywhere, but how about Serene?" She queried me with worry.
"I have already taken care of that; she will be out of our lives for good," I said, going in for a kiss.
I am not bothered about Serene; the return of Nelly made me glad. I do not want to put off the divorce procedures any longer, so I asked my lawyer to create the paperwork.
Serene lost her kid while she was in the depths of despair, and she will soon lose me. I am excited to leave her for my first love, who is all I have ever desired.
[Weeks Later]
Serene was able to pull herself together from the anguish and decided to sign the paperwork as I remained riveted to Nelly.
"Please read the agreement and sign here," my Lawyer said, referring to the terms.
Serene did not want to read anything; all she wanted to do was sign the terrible papers and go from my life forever. If I could not even feel her pain at losing her kid, what was the point of fighting for a love that was not hers?
Serene signed the papers and handed them to the lawyer. "Sir, it is your turn," the lawyer said, giving me the pen.
"Give me a second," I said, leaving the office.
I came back a few minutes later, accompanied by someone. To Serene's surprise, I invited my ex-girlfriend Nelly to watch me sign the divorce paperwork. Nelly seemed happy, and she could not stop staring at me while I did the same. Serene felt ashamed and unhappy, but she tried not to reveal her feelings, even if they were obvious. I signed the documents and paid Serene $2 million in compensation, but she turned it all down. This made Nelly very delighted but she didn't show it. As Serene was ready to depart, I went down on my knees and engaged Nelly.
Everything looked to be normal for us, but Serene's sorrow was about to burst when I proposed to Nelly just after divorcing her on our fifth anniversary.
[In the restroom]
Serene raced out and went straight to the toilet, where she painted creams red. "How could he do this to me?" she asked herself. Nelly followed her into the toilet, only to confront her with harsh remarks.
Serene ran to the sink to wipe away her tears in the mirror as soon as she heard someone enter the bathroom. Nelly did not want to pass up this chance, so she walked there.
"Oh, my sweetheart, I wish things were different, you know," she said, but Serene did not reply.
"Imagine what it would be like if he filed for divorce when you were pregnant; you should be grateful it did not happen," she said.
The sound of her child enraged Serene, so she approached Nelly and yelled, "Do not ever talk about my child in that manner; you are nothing compared to it!"
"Really? If that were the case, Diego would not have listened to me when I instructed him to get rid of you and invite me to your divorce day in front of you."
Serene could not believe what she had heard, so Diego did everything he could to satisfy Nelly's wishes without hesitation. She did not want to be around us, so she drove home, to gather all of her belongings .
