20% Heir To The Mad Pirate / Chapter 36: The Military

章節 36: The Military

"Do you, Hans Don Kruxe, take Marvin Rita to be your wife, to cherish in friendship and love today, tomorrow, and for as long as the two of you live, to trust and honour her, to love her faithfully?" a ceremonious and holy voice asked.

"I do," Kruxe answered, a bright smile on his face as he looked at the most beautiful woman in the world.

"Do you, Marvin Rita, take Hans Don Kruxe to be your wedded husband, to cherish in love and in friendship, in strength and in weakness, in success and in disappointment, to love him faithfully…"

"I do," Rita quickly answered, a light blush on her face, and joy in her eyes as she stared at Kruxe.

"By the powers invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

This was the part Kruxe was interested in. He wasn't exactly sure about what the priest had been asking, but he knew that if he had been asked to renounce all his titles and inheritances just to marry Rita, he would, and that was enough for him.

With the priest's declaration, all that was left was for Kruxe to hold Rita in his hands, join their lips, and proclaim to the world that she was now his, and his alone.

Kruxe had just gotten her in his grip when the annoying sound that he had been hearing got louder.

He had been hearing this mysterious sound for quite some time now but hadn't wanted to ruin or cause a commotion at his wedding, so he had stayed silent and now that it was time to kiss his bride, there was no way he was going to give in.

Ignoring the annoyance, Kruxe pulled Rita by her slim waist, having her against him. Then, he moved forward to press his lips against hers.

As Rita closed her eyes, Kruxe couldn't help but get in the mood and close his, a move he soon regretted as the next time he opened his eyes, it was to a ceiling.

It had been a dream, Kruxe realized, as the sounds that had just been a buzz in his dream were now blasting unfiltered noise.

Moans, cries, shouts, complaints, and many more filled the air, having him wonder where he was, but then, as he stared at the familiar ceiling, an idea of his current location popped into his mind.

"So it's actually white and brown," Kruxe thought as he finally had a clear view of the ceiling, given the abundant lighting that filled the room.

"When did this place get so noisy?" Kruxe groaned inwardly as his head turned to the left.

The last time Kruxe performed this action after waking up, his eyes had been welcomed to the sight of empty beds. But this time, he got a clear look at a man who had the lower part of his mouth covered in a blood-stained bandage while the man was wide awake and looking all around.

Eventually, the man picked up Kruxe's gaze and stared at him, the desolate and despondent look in his eyes making Kruxe turn and look the other way.

This time, though the bed next to him did not have someone who looked like they had given up on the world, the bed was still occupied by a silent man, and so were the other beds beside his.

Understanding the current situation was not hard for Kruxe, and not wanting to begin thinking in such a depressing area, he immediately pushed himself up and moved to stand up.

Already sure that he had used up another life the previous night, Kruxe was not surprised to find his body well and fit, but as he moved to turn to the side and then get off the bed, the fact that his right arm couldn't follow him and was stuck surprised him.

With confusion, Kruxe looked to his right arm, his eyes tracing across its length and finally arriving at the point where a metallic band connected to a chain was on it.

When Kruxe's eyes went along the chain, he found the chain led to another metallic band which was placed around the iron of the bed.

"Huh, I've been chained, who chained me," Kruxe thought, looking around.

Though some eyes turned to his now sitting figure, Kruxe noticed no one was paying attention to him for too long. The patients were too busy moaning from the several pains in their bodies, and the figures dressed in white, who were most likely doctors or nurses, had their hands full trying to relieve their patients' pain.

Kruxe felt like he was in a world of his own, everyone ignoring him until a woman dressed in blue and brown camouflage walked up to him.

"Is your name Kruxe?" the woman asked, her voice stern but soothing due to its softness.

"Who are you?"

Though Kruxe appreciated the woman's voice, that didn't mean he was going to answer her questions. The woman's face tightened at Kruxe's question, her eyes narrowing as she looked at him. Kruxe waited for her to speak, but in the end, she said nothing and instead stood at attention by his side.

Looking at the woman, Kruxe felt there was something he was missing, but after everything he had been through the previous night, he was not in the mood to play around and wanted the chain to be removed from him immediately.

"Listen, lady, I don't know what your problem is, but can you please take this off?"

"Hey, I'm talking to you."

Seeing the woman ignore him after his first words, Kruxe's voice went up a notch and his buried frustration began seeping out, yet all it took was the woman turning and giving him a stare for him to immediately shut up.

With that stare, a doubt of Kruxe's was cleared.

Without a doubt, the woman before Kruxe was a soldier, and more importantly, a seeker.

"What did I do to draw the military's attention?" Kruxe thought with a gulp.
