John was exhausted. He had come home from another (likely fruitless) job interview. He was still stressed out about the whole Rem situation too. The check-in wasn't until tomorrow but the guilt of holding onto information that should go to the police was killing him.

He hated waiting for the calls too since they always came in at different points during the period of 3-5 PM. Sometimes they came shortly after three. Once it didn't happen until 4:58. That had been particularly stressful.

Taking off his suit coat and tie, John was ready to throw himself onto the couch and sulk for a while before getting back to job applications but someone was already sitting on it. A vaguely familiar someone.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?!" he asked, brandishing a plate as a weapon.

It was the first thing he could grab. He had a bagel for breakfast and hadn't bothered putting the plate in the sink.
