章節 179: Chapter 179: Visitors from the East

At Hogwarts, staff and students alike were determined to leave a lasting impression on their guests from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. With Christmas approaching, the castle had been adorned in festive splendor. Icicles that never melted hung from the marble staircase railings, and the Great Hall boasted twelve magnificent Christmas trees, decorated with everything from shimmering holly berries to living golden owls that chirped melodiously. Even the suits of armor had been enchanted to sing Christmas carols, though their off-key renditions—like a tinny "O Come, All Ye Faithful"—left much to be desired.

In the Great Hall, Dumbledore had gathered everyone. Facing the curious and slightly puzzled expressions of students and teachers alike, his serious demeanor softened into a warm smile. "With Christmas just around the corner and the Yule Ball fast approaching, I bring you another piece of exciting news. A delegation of exchange students from an Eastern wizarding academy has arrived to observe the Triwizard Tournament. They'll be spending some time with us, and I trust you will make them feel welcome. Let us greet our distinguished guests with a round of applause."

The hall doors opened to reveal five individuals with distinctly Eastern features, a mix of men and women of varying ages. They wore identical robes embroidered with red cloud patterns. The high collars of their robes, which reached their chins and partially obscured their faces, added an air of mystique.

"Wow, those robes are so cool," Ron exclaimed, his voice tinged with envy. "Is that what all students at their academy wear? If Diagon Alley sells them, I'd spend every last Knut to get one."

Whispers spread across the hall as the students observed the five newcomers, clearly intrigued by the visitors from the East.

"A bunch of ignorant fools," sneered Bei Chen to himself, his expression betraying annoyance. "The captain is far too cautious. In a low-magic world like this, my instinct would've been to dominate outright—show them real power. These weaklings wouldn't dare disobey if they knew their place."

Dumbledore seated the group at the Slytherin table before continuing with announcements about the upcoming Yule Ball.

As the group settled in, one of the Eastern visitors, a tall, elegant woman, turned to Marcus Flint. Her voice, soft and charming, sent a shiver down his spine like a summer breeze cooling a sweltering day. "Excuse me," she said politely, "could you tell me which of the professors is Augustus?"

Startled at first, Marcus looked puzzled. "Professor Augustus? We don't have anyone by that name here."

So Augustus wasn't a professor, thought Dong Zhen. Their assumptions from the previous night might have been mistaken. Yet she sensed there was more to Marcus's response and remained silent, waiting for him to continue.

Faced with the enchanting woman's gaze, Marcus felt compelled to impress her. He straightened his posture, feigning composure. "Augustus isn't a professor—he's the Slytherin champion."

"Champion? But isn't that Cedric and Harry?" Bei Chen interjected.

Marcus frowned, clearly irritated by the interruption but refrained from lashing out, given the guest's status. "Harry may have been chosen as an extra champion, but Cedric Diggory is hardly a match for Lord Augustus. As Slytherin's true champion, Lord Augustus is more than worthy of the title."

Dong Zhen noticed Marcus's tone carried a deep reverence for Augustus. She exchanged a glance with a fellow team member, both realizing how drastically the story had deviated from what they knew. Could Augustus be the source of all the changes?

"Pardon my forwardness," Dong Zhen continued gracefully, "but is Augustus here right now?"

Marcus hesitated. Pointing directly at Lord Augustus might be presumptuous, but refusing the lady's request felt equally ungracious. After a moment, he gestured toward a platinum-haired boy. "There, to Draco Malfoy's left—that's Lord Augustus."

Following his direction, the five Eastern visitors turned their gaze toward the indicated person. Sitting beside Malfoy was a delicate girl with deep crimson eyes, quietly listening to Dumbledore's speech. They froze in shock. Augustus is... a girl? Their perception of the world seemed to crumble.

Bei Chen's eyes gleamed with admiration before his lips curled into a smirk.

Marcus, noticing their confusion, quickly corrected himself. "Ah, my mistake—wrong side. Augustus is to Draco's right."

Relieved yet still reeling, the group shifted their attention again. What they saw this time stunned them even more.

Some individuals are simply born to command the stage, standing above all others. Regal, elegant, and exuding a presence beyond words, Augustus embodied grace and nobility. No matter how dazzling the surroundings, they only served as a backdrop to his brilliance. Refined like jade, unparalleled in charm—he was an unforgettable figure at first glance.

Bei Chen scoffed quietly, his jealousy evident. "So he's just a mere student after all. Lucky we didn't side with him yesterday. Imagine the humiliation if that got out."

Dong Zhen cast Bei Chen a disdainful look, disgusted by his petty remarks. Comparing him to Augustus felt like an insult to the latter's celestial demeanor.

Marcus's face darkened. "You're treading on thin ice, kid. Don't think you can get away with such disrespect here. If you've got a death wish, don't drag it into Slytherin. Here, we honor Augustus." His voice dripped with conviction, making it clear that in Slytherin, respect for Augustus was non-negotiable.
