章節 16: Chapter 16
"What are you thinking?"
I ignored Dad's question and continued to think up a strategy with which we could gain an upper-hand or at least survive this with minimum losses on our side.
And suddenly an idea came to my mind.
"I have got it!!" I said as I suddenly stood up from the chair.
"W-What is it?" Dad asked
"Elsa killed a few people and the video of that incident is with the Virtuosos group. If we go on to fight them, they will show this video to the WAA and then we will be scrutinised and punished by them. so the main problem isn't her kidnapping it's the video."
"Yeah"
"Now what would happen if they lose that video?"
Dad's eyes narrowed and he said, "All our problems will be solved. But.....please don't tell me the you plan to get that video is what I am thinking."
"Of course it is."
"Ben please give us a minute."
"Yes." Ben said and walked out of the room
Dad stared at me for a few seconds then said
"We are not planning a heist."
"We are definitely planning a HEIST!!" I said enthusiastically.
It was actually surprising that it took me such a long idea to come up with a simple idea like this but ever since I came to this world, and lived my life as an awakened one, most of my creativity about these things have gone to shit.
Whenever something happens it is all about whether you are stronger than the other party or not. So it is actually kinda refreshing to plan a thing like this.
"Owen. This is a serious matter not Halloween at our house. You are talking about infiltrating the head quarters of a strong awakened group!!"
Since this family was so boring I introduced a few new traditions. One of them was the Halloween Heist. I know that it isn't exactly a very original idea but it is fun so who cares.
Every year we would choose one person from our family whose one close possession will be kept as the prize and whoever has it by midnight will win and get to keep that thing as well.
It started off really slow and boring but over the years it has reached the level of craziness I had intended.
"I know that. I am serious about this as well. We just need a whole lot of planning." I said
".....Alright we can give it a shot. But we still need to give them a reply by midnight."
"Oh yeah I forgot about that. Uhhh...Tell them you want to accept this deal but have to conduct a meeting with the rest of the members of the board before finalising the decision and since not all of them are here at the moment, it could take a week or so."
"Will they be satisfied with that?" Dad asked
"I don't think so. They will obviously be able to tell that we are simply buying time and in turn they will increase their security even further which will mess up your 'heist'."
Although him air-quoting the word heist annoyed me a little. I decided to ignore it.
"Then just tell them that we agree to their demands. However, it will take about 2 weeks to hand over the businesses and a week for the territory they had demanded. We will launch the heist 2 weeks from now."
"...That's a huge gamble Owen. I think we should set the same date for both of them. It is too risky to hand over our territory that easily."
"Not really. Even right now they will still believe that we are simply stalling for time and they will increase their security for some time but after satisfying one of their demands, they will completely believe that we caved and will drop their guard. That is exactly the time when we will strike."
"Are you sure? Once we start, there is no going back and if the plan goes to shit you will be the one who is going to be held responsible."
"I am confident I can come up with a decent plan."
"Alright. I will trust you for now. Go and create a team that will be part of this heist and get to work."
"Yes!" I said and left his office

[3rd POV]
Outside Elsa's room in the Virtuosos group Head Quarters
"What is the meaning of this?"
"Well....we thought that since it's her last days, she should at least have some fun." Man A answered his boss's question
"Is that so." The leader of the virtuosos group, Michael Harris narrowed his eyes as he looked at two of his subordinates.
"Well Alright. Since I am in a good mood I will let this go. But don't think about doing something like this ever again." he warned Man A and B
"Yes Sir!"
"Now open the door to her room. I want to speak to her."
Although both of them had doubts about what he would do to Elsa but neither one of them had the guts to say that out loud and they both immediately followed his orders and hope that he doesn't get physical.

*Whoosh*
The automatic metal door slid open with a humming sound.
Elsa was surprised as she had only been visited by her two kidnappers when they came with her meal at specific times 5 times a day. During the time they brought her food. They even chatted with her to calm her down and spend some time with her.
Even though they were the ones who kidnapped her. Realising that they actually held no hostility towards her whatsoever, she had actually began to trust them slightly.
However right now wasn't the time for her meal. A little hope had filled her heart even though she knew it won't be true. She had hoped that someone had come to rescue her.
"W-Who are you?" Elsa said stepping back a few steps as she had never seen the scary looking person that is in front of him before.
"Yes. I think introduction is due. I am Michael Haris. The chairman of the Virtuosos group. And the boss of the two who had been watching and taking care of you for the past few days."
"....why?" Elsa asked in a meek voice, almost whispered.
"What? Speak properly." Michael said
"Why did you kidnap me? Please let me go!! My parents don't have that much money. Please!!!" Elsa yelled and started crying as she did.
"I suppose you should know for what -no for who you are in here." Michael said and started walking towards her slowly.
Elsa continued to back away in fear until her back touched the wall behind her.
Michael kept advancing towards her slowly step by step. When he was just 2 steps away, Elsa's mind overcame with fear and she relented to her instincts and began channeling her powers at her hands.
Michael took his brought his hand to his back to take something out of there.
"St--STAY AWAY!!" Elsa yelled as a knife made out of ice appeared in her hands.
But before she could do anything, Michael held his hand out with apiece of paper.
Elsa's mind went blank. It was a photograph of a teenage blonde guy who she was incredibly familiar with.
"O-Owen...?" Elsa said with widened eyes as her powers subsided and the ice knife she had conjured up disappeared.
"That's right. This is the guy because of whom you have to go through so much trouble." Michael said as he handed her the photograph.
"Y-You are lying. Owen would never do this to me! He is my friend." Elsa said
*Sigh* Michael sighed and as Elsa thought she would get a real explanation from him.
*Smack!*
"AAGHH!!"
Michael slapped her.
Elsa fell to the floor.
Even without using his powers, the slap had enough force to render any normal human pass out from the pain. As an untrained awakened one, Elsa's condition was only slightly better.
She felt the sting on her cheek as she looked back toward Michael in fear.
"How dare you call me a liar" Michael said with disgust clearly visible on his face.
"I know Owen won't do anything like this." Elsa said as she still held her cheek with her hand.
"You don't know anything. You didn't even knew there was a thing called awakened one until our group approached you and explained it to you. And you certainly don't know anything about that little bastard." Michael said as he looked at the photo in Elsa's hand.
"Owen Knight is also an awakened one. A strong one at that." Michael said as she squatted in front of her.
"W-What?" Elsa said
"Owen Knight is an awakened one just like you. He is one disrespectful bastard that doesn't know his place. This is why as soon as I found out that he actually had an unaffiliated awakened one as a friend I couldn't wait to jump at the opportunity and grab it." Michael said with a wide smile on his face as he stared at Elsa making her cower in fear.
"He and his group have also undermined me and my group and now they will pay for it." His eyes suddenly changed and bloodlust could practically be seen in his eyes. The rage he had against the Knight Family and it's successor knew no bounds.
"Though I suppose he really cherishes you considering that the Knight Family accepted our conditions and hand over $100,000,000 worth of their businesses and a part of their territory just for your pathetic weak life."
"I-I can go?" Elsa asked as she understood what his previous statement meant.
She was surprised that Owen would go that far to hand over such a huge amount for her but right now she just wanted to get out of here no matter the cost.
"Well of course." Michael said
A small smile dawned on Elsa's face but....
"At least that's what they think. But tell me why should I just waste the cards I have been dealt with."
Elsa's expression hardened
"I won't hand you over no matter what they do even after they hand over half of their territory. No. I will take more and more little by little until they have nothing left."
"Y-You can't do that!" Elsa yelled which made her receive another slap across her face.
"Keep your voice down when speaking to me. Why do you think I can't do that?" Michael said as his face turned even scarier.
"The Authorities!! They won't just let them do that and will take action. There must be a law enforcing organisation even for the awakened ones."
"HHAHAHA"
"You are absolutely right!! But they wouldn't care about it at all because the Knight Family would never go to them. You wanna know why?" Michael asked
"Why?" Elsa replied in a weak voice
"It is because of you!! You who murdered those 4 people are a criminal in the awakened world already. If they go to them I will reveal what you did and then they will get prosecuted by that organisation instead of me!! HAHAHAHAHAH" Michael laughed maniacally and left the room while giving a short glance towards the kneeling figure of Elsa.
Fear and dread washed over Elsa as the memories of that night resurfaced in her mind.
Not only she felt guilty for doing the right thing but now she was suffering because of it. Not only that, now even his friend was dragged into this and will have to suffer because of her.
Elsa broke down crying and wailing.
Outside the room, the two figure who had been keeping a watch on the entire conversation inside the room clenched their fists and stopped themselves from doing anything stupid that could result in them paying their lives.
