We walked into Jasper's home and he brings in my little Henry. "Henry! Henry! Come to your mother! Come on you must remember me!." My boy showed no reaction as I called for him. He really did seem to change. Almost as if I didn't recognize him anymore.
"Go on Henry." As Jasper gave him a push as he saw that the boy didn't react to my call to him.
"Lady Mother." He gave me a courtesy, he seemed to be afraid of me. As if I was just a stranger to him. It indeed broke my heart. My own boy didn't recognize his own mother. All the things I've done for him and he doesn't acknowledge it.
And it's all because of those Pesky York's, they took my little boy away from me. I don't get to raise him because of my beliefs.
They've taken away his title, and now the affects that that's had on him are major.
I smiled at him in hopes to lower his guard. "Henry. I miss you very much, and I would've come sooner."
I was shaking as I spoke to my boy. His guard made me very sad, that he had though he had to defend himself from his own mother who wouldn't hurt hair on his body.
"But I have been made to live very far away from you." I tried my hardest not to break down in tears. Not to break down in front of my boy and show him how weak I am in this state away from him. To not break down as I explained the current situation were in. "It is punishment for my loyalties."
"Henry, The wicked York King has taken your title. But we will get it back for you. We will." Just then my 'lovely' husband decided to step before I 'said something wrong'. I did not believe anything I was saying was wrong.
My boy deserves to know the truth, and I will tell it to him. It is the least I can do, since I cannot raise him myself.
"Do not fill in his head nonsense, Margaret. He will not get it back! He should be playing in the sun with other children."
Why should you care, you've never cared about my boy ever. "Not cooped up here like some Invalid!"
"There are no families of breeding near enough for a suitable companion."
"Well perhaps Little Henry could show me the stables and the horses while we're here." And then my Little Henry and that man went to the stables.
Leaving me and Jasper alone to talk. The tension in the room was very thick.
"Tell me he is good to you? Tell me that at least."
"He....hmm. I have an allowance. I buy books, I read the Gospel. He's teaching me to read in Latin.
"I missed you, Margaret. More than I can tell." He started walking closer towards me.
"Don't, You Must Not." He stopped, and then my 'husband' walked in with a letter very excited.
"I received a letter from my brother. My nephew is to betrothed to the Queen's sister. Katherine. And we are called to London for the Wedding." How disgusting is this. A commoner to a Duke, when did this become a thing.
"The Duke Of Buckingham....to a common country girl?. I will not go."
"You will. Margaret. And you will be Gracious." Now I am to attend a Wedding of a Royal to a commoner. All because I must follow my husband's rules.
I shall not show my loyalty to the York's when my loyalty does not lie with them. I am a woman of God, and my prayers tell me my boy is meant to be on that Throne. Not Edward.
