Anna and Diego looked worried as they both saw and eyed each other to initiate the conversation.
Both of them were scared to make a move since Lillian Grey is in her beast mode.
"You guys either talk or eat! Don't sit there scanning my face. I'm not going to kill you." Lillian announced noticing her friends worry.
Anna and Diego twitched.
'She's clearly out of her friendly zone' – Diego studied.
Anna laughed anxiously and continued to eat first. Diego accompanied her.
The trio ate their lunch in silence with Diego and Anna often conversing while Lillian kept quiet. She would glance around the cafeteria, ignoring Anna and Diego's chattering.
Her eyes roamed the cafeteria, observing all the kids and out of all, she spotted one.
Giselle.
Giselle is sitting the other end of the cafeteria alone, eating her lunch.
'Was she always alone during lunch?'
'Or is it only today?'
That's when Lillian realized that all of her anger disappeared the moment she laid eyes on this girl. Lillian smiled.
'What is happening to me?' she pondered to herself.
When her eyes returned to their spot, she noticed her friends staring at her.
Anna watched while her hands were hanging on the midway to her mouth.
"What?" Lillian charged.
'Is she back to normal?' Diego doubted.
"You were smiling alone, Lilly!" Anna's words faltered.
'Crap' – Lillian froze.
"Was I?" Lillian tried to avoid.
Anna continued eating. She resumed her hands moving so that she could eat delicious chocolate pudding. Once she took the bite, Anna placed her spoon back on the plate.
She took a few deep breaths and then started speaking.
"You know, for someone who's been there with you for so long, I demand your response, Lilly!!!" Anna stated.
Her eyes fixed on Lillian's hazel brown orbs. Just like her words, Anna's eyes dominated her friend for an answer.
"Regarding what?" Lillian exclaimed.
"Regarding your behavior from this morning till now," Diego took the lead that Anna opened.
The next thing was Anna and Diego looking at their friend, Lillian Grey, whom they suspect to have behaved differently today.
"My behavior?" Lillian squealed.
The guys next to their table got startled at her loud voice.
"Lillian" Anna ordered.
This time, Anna is angry. Lillian could feel her wrath piling up inside only to explode at any time. Lillian sighed. She couldn't take it anymore herself.
"I accept that my behavior was different today," Lillian announced.
To her surprise, both Anna and Diego jumped out of their seat to agree in a chorus. Lillian fired them a glare, and both returned to their places.
"Are you guys trying to kill me?"
"I'm already preparing my end from Mr. Seth."
"Keep it down, or I'm not talking," Lillian warned them.
They both nodded in agreement. Lillian's facepalmed herself.
"So, what happened?"
"It's been a while since we saw Lilly in beast mode." Anna mocked.
"Yeah, the last time she was a beast was… when?" Diego tried to recall the past.
"Oh yeah, when she got falsely charged for cheating during the science test. That was intense. I thought you would get dismissed for sure. Learn to control your anger, Lilly. It is not good once you start working." Diego advised.
Anna agreed. They both knew Lillian turns into a beast when she's angry and won't be able to control herself until she defeats the opponent. Lillian listened to their words and assured her friends that she would be cautious in the future.
Anna continued her interrogation. Lillian wasn't interested in talking about Giselle and her confession. But reflecting upon her abnormal behavior, Lillian wanted help from her friends. She decided to share the incident but chose to hide a few details.
"I received a confession yesterday after school," Lillian spoke.
"WHAT?" both chorused in surprise.
Diego's faced stiffened, flexing his muscles and trying to maintain his composure while Anna froze in her state.
"Is it your first… confession?" Anna spelled in shock.
Lillian nodded. After all, they have been together for a long time and knew that Lillian had never fallen in love or received any proposals.
"Who is it?" Diego asked in vain. His voice got low and deep.
Lillian's eyes flickered as she didn't want to expose Giselle. It surprised her how much she desired to protect a third person instead of revealing to her friends, with whom she spent her entire life.
"I can't answer that." Lillian declared.
"What do you mean?" Diego got pissed off.
'What does it mean she can't answer?' Diego raged inside but didn't want to show it out.
"I mean that I cannot answer who it is!!!" Lillian dominated.
"We're your friends, Lilly" Diego doesn't want to accept defeat that easily. He insisted on knowing the person's name. But when Lillian was more stubborn in protecting the details, Diego got mad. He got hurt by Lillian and so, stood up.
"I believed in you that you would tell me anything that happens in your life. I considered you to be my true friend. But, when you can't even trust me to reveal such a small thing which is normal for our age, I don't think that I can help you, Lilly."
Diego told and walked away.
