"Wraith Chain!" Ath3na yelled.
The ethereal chain blasted out of her palm and latched itself to the ceiling just in time to pull Ath3na up so she could avoid the White Liger's area-of-effect attack, [WINTER'S BREATH].
Ath3na then used the chain to swing forward and catch the White Liger's back with the tip of her halberd. She raked Red Death across its back, causing the monstrous shadow beast to howl in pain.
"Honestly, I'm against cruelty to animals but you've been a bad kitty!" she said as she swung away.
In her mind, Ath3na was feeling more impressed with how adaptive abilities were in this game. Most other games had abilities with very specific parameters, but not the Abyss. It was almost as if they worked to turn a player's imagination and experience into reality whenever possible.
"Is now really a time for banter?" Argonaut asked from right below where Ath3na had just passed.
Greetings, fellow reapers!
Okay, admittedly, this battle is a little long and the writing got away from me. But I really wanted to showcase how difficult a raid boss battle would be given their circumstances. Still, it might need some editing. I'm not too satisfied with the prose.
That said, thanks for everyone who dropped some stones today. :D You are the fire that keeps me warm.
Next chapter, the team runs through the dungeon, encountering traps, more boss monsters — and I promise it'll be faster paced than this last one. :D
Cheers!
