Instinctively, he bent backward, bringing his sword to his chest, gripping the blade near the tip with his other hand, and positioning the blunt side upward.

In an instant, the Tenebris reached down, its talons extended and aimed straight at him but Ken's quick move saved him.

Its claws slammed down onto Ken's sword, driving him into the ground. The earth caved under him, and the Tenebris aimed its beak downward, intent on piercing his skull. But with a swift twist, Ken pushed up with his sword.
