章節 138: Supreme Commander of the New Dawn Unification

Dominic, a man with long hair and cold eyes, sat on one of the pews in the church within the safe city of Washington. The dim candlelight illuminated his face as he stared into the void. Around him, the sacred silence of that holy place echoed in his thoughts.

As shadows moved outside, Dominic reflected on the future and the outcome of his choices. He didn't believe in God or the religious teachings imparted in this place. To him, life was an uncertain path governed by human actions and not by the unknown interventions of existence.

While the faithful kneeled and prayed with devotion, Dominic felt detached from the scene. He found no solace in the words of the prayers or the promises of redemption. His cold eyes reflected a personal determination, a refusal to be swayed by others' beliefs.

His thoughts wandered through the darkest corners of his mind, questioning the meaning of everything. Could he really make a change in this world? Was there a purpose beyond what the eyes could see?

At this moment, a soft breeze caressed his face, carrying the scent of candles and the subtle murmurs of prayers. Dominic closed his eyes for an instant, immersing himself in the quiet of his own introspection.

Inside, a spark of uncertainty and curiosity began to burn. Though he didn't believe in God, the search for meaning remained latent in his being. Perhaps, on his path to the future, he would find answers beyond conventional religious teachings.

"Sir, a scientist who claims to have the key to creating a cure for the virus is being transported." Stuart, who had recently been leading the mission in Virginia, entered the church and informed Dominic, his friend and supreme commander, personally.

"Let's go!"

Dominic rose from the pew and left the church, the echo of his own thoughts resonating in his mind. He passed through the doors into the outside world, determined to explore new perspectives and discover his own path to the truth.

...

Five minutes later, Dominic slowly emerged from behind the captain, wearing a black uniform named Cesar. After seeing his appearance clearly, Cesar couldn't help but sigh due to the immense pressure.

"I really didn't expect there to be such strong resistance in Washington; I expected no less from our country."

Ignoring Abraham's exclamation, Dominic waved his hand, and several people stepped forward to support the two of them, followed by some armed guards.

"Alright, you will be sent to zones for evaluation while we talk to your scientist friend." Dominic knew this man was lying, so the excitement he initially felt faded.

Not wanting to waste more time, he asked, "Last chance, if you pass through those doors and you're not a scientist, I'll kill you. If you tell me the truth, I might let you live now."

Eugene, who was about to speak, remained silent, then Dominic drew a gun and shot him in the shoulder.

Bang!

"Aaaaahhhhh!!!"

"What the hell are you doing?!" Abraham, who was happy to have reached this place, turned around when he heard the shot and saw Eugene on the ground.

"Don't take another step, or you'll die." A dozen soldiers pointed their guns at Abraham and his group.

"This is my last way of showing you mercy. Tell me the truth." Dominic shouted, looking at Eugene, who seemed to think he was dying, but the bullet had only grazed his arm.

"It's a lie; everything is a lie."

Once everyone heard this, Dominic holstered his weapon and walked towards Abraham, who was furious. "Your skills will be needed, Sergeant. Despite bringing an impostor here, we are at war, and we need you. Clear your mind and report once you're ready."

Tara, seeing Dominic walk away, asked, "Did you destroy my shelter?"

"I suppose I've killed more living than dead. If your shelter was among the victims of my killings, then it must have been guilty." Dominic didn't look back because he was too agitated.

"You lied to me?!"

Dominic, hearing all the chaos, shook his head. At least now he had a skilled sergeant. He only hoped he would be useful and not a damn burden.
