“No one ever wants to die, Salvatore,” Alpha Lycus scolded me, and Tristan beamed. “I have to go now.” He walked out the back of the library archives and left.
I stood there staring at a grinning Tristan, cursing him for interrupting this moment.
“Your Highness, Leonardo had been standing outside the library since you instructed me. He kept pushing to come in and I suspect he knew that you were not alone.”
“How should I punish you, Tristan?” I was not going to be distracted by him.
“He is about to leave for the border. You need to bid your brother farewell lest the coven council suspects anything.”
“You are good at deflecting, Tristan. I hope you saw nothing and heard nothing since you walked into the library.”
“Of course, your Majesty,” he responded.
