章節 3: Chapter 3: Being Her Substitute
She looked at Hallie Morgan, smiling at Evelyn Olsen, "Evelyn, the girl playing the maid is unwell, and there's a scene that needs a stand-in soon. Why don't you let her give it a try?" She looked at Hallie with a face full of smiles.
Hallie noticed the malice and the haughty sarcasm in her gaze.
Her hand, resting by her side, gradually clenched.
Acting was her dream since childhood. She often fantasized that one day, she may become a star, standing in front of the camera, acknowledged and liked by many.
She knew that she wasn't the flesh and blood of the Morgan family. She was an orphan, adopted by the Morgans because Daphne Allen couldn't bear children. But a year later, Daphne Allen got pregnant.
Daphne was helpless to send her away and brought her up reluctantly.
If she became a star, standing in front of everybody, then her biological parents might see her and come looking for her, right?
So even though she had no background, no money, and the journey might be tough, if there was even the slightest chance, she wanted to seize it.
Now, having just run away from home penniless, if she could stay with the crew, she would have food and shelter. If she missed this opportunity, she might not even be able to keep her job at the company.
"What, don't want to act? Hallie, if that's the case, Evelyn, it doesn't seem right to keep unrelated people in the crew," Linda Collins chuckled.
She gritted her teeth slightly, facing Linda's smug smile, "No, don't kick me out, I'll act."
Evelyn Olsen was surprised for a moment, not expecting Hallie to agree.
She took a deep look at Linda.
"Alright, go change your clothes."
Linda looked at her, her smile getting deeper and deeper.
Hallie even dared to walk right up to her.
Linda had long been displeased with Hallie Morgan. An illegitimate child of the Morgan family, Hallie was Elijah Moore's girlfriend at one point, and was nearly promoted by the company.
But a month ago, she suddenly disappeared, lost that opportunity, and was dumped and discarded by Elijah Moore, as Linda heard it.
And now, she dared to come here. Isn't this asking for her own death?

Hallie was in a gray maid's gown, with only a thin lining underneath. In the cold winter weather, she was shivering slightly. At this moment, she was kneeling on the paving stones, her face humble almost to the point of crawling.
In front of her, the malicious Linda Collins was smiling wickedly and moving closer.
With a "smack," a slap landed on Hallie's face.
Hallie's head buzzed instantly, her cheek visibly swelling red.
She actually really slapped her, and one that used all her strength.
"How dare you look at me? Are you still not convinced?" Linda said, and slapped her again on the same spot.
Hallie tilted, propping herself up with one hand on the ground, feeling a heavy weight in her head.
"Oh no, Director, did I mess up?" Linda Collins exclaimed, covering her mouth, "I got too into it. I saw her staring at me, and I accidentally hit her again. Let's do it again."
The director glanced at the figure on the ground indifferently, frowning, "Let's do it again."
"What?"
Hallie raised her head and glared at Linda Collins.
She did this on purpose.
Linda Collins smirked, "What's wrong, don't want to act anymore? Well, suit yourself, there are plenty outside who want to get a role. If you don't want to act, you can leave now."
