The walk from the entrance of the manor to the banquet hall was quite long. Luckily, the weather was good that night. Since Caroline had a coat on, she didn't feel cold.

After making sure there was no one around, Claudia lowered her voice, "Let me tell you how this party came about."

Caroline murmured in agreement and waited for her to continue.

"The host of tonight's banquet, Mr. Wood, turns 42 this year. Recently, he married a 20-year-old woman. She's even younger than us."

Caroline listened carefully. "So, is he having this party tonight for his wife?"

Claudia nodded, "Yes, Mrs. Wood likes to play the piano, and she wants to become a pianist. However, she isn't good enough. No one is willing to listen to her play, so he's invited several socialites over and is using this party as an excuse to garner an audience for his wife."

"That sounds ridiculous. Why is everyone here then?" Caroline asked curiously.
