章節 20: Chapter 20: Chuuya’s Fury

Chuuya Nakahara moved through the dark streets with a sense of purpose, his mind racing. The rumors of the illegal drug "Amp" spreading through the underground had reached him days ago, and it had been gnawing at him ever since. The balance in the underworld was fragile, always on the brink of chaos, but the appearance of the drug had tipped the scales in the worst way.

He had tried to avoid getting involved at first—this wasn't his business. But it didn't take long for the problem to hit close to home. The rumors had started to mention familiar names, people Chuuya had known for years. Lone wolves like him, scraping by in the underworld, trying to survive the daily grind. They weren't his friends, but they were something close to companions. Together, they had helped keep some semblance of stability in the chaotic streets.

But now, some of those very people were rumored to have taken the drug. They had fallen victim to the promises of strength and power that "Amp" gave its users, and Chuuya had seen the results of that kind of desperation before. It was never good.

He clenched his fists as he approached the rundown hideout where he had tracked some of them. If what he had heard was true, he had to know why. These weren't weaklings—they knew how to survive. So why would they turn to something as reckless and dangerous as "Amp"?

Pushing the door open, Chuuya stepped inside, his sharp eyes immediately scanning the room. The dim light flickered overhead, casting long shadows across the room. And there, standing near the back, were the familiar faces he had been searching for—three men he had known for years, each of them looking more disheveled and wild than the last.

"You idiots," Chuuya muttered under his breath as he stepped forward. His voice was low but edged with frustration. "I've been hearing some things. Tell me it's not true."

The three men turned to face him, and Chuuya could see it immediately. Their eyes were glassy, their movements jittery. The telltale signs of "Amp" use were all there—the heightened aggression, the uncontrolled movements. But worst of all was the vacant look in their eyes, like their minds had already started to fray under the drug's influence.

"Chuuya…" one of them, a tall man with a scar across his cheek, said in a slurred voice. "Why are you here?"

Chuuya's eyes narrowed. "That's my question. Why are you using that garbage? What the hell happened to you guys?"

The scarred man's lips twisted into a grim smile. "We just… wanted to be stronger. To keep up with you."

The words hit Chuuya harder than he expected. Keep up with me? His anger flared, but he forced himself to keep it in check.

"Keep up with me? This is what you call keeping up? You're killing yourselves!" Chuuya's voice rose, frustration edging into anger. "Do you have any idea what this stuff is doing to you? You'll burn out before you even realize it!"

But the men didn't respond. Instead, the scarred man's hand tightened into a fist, and Chuuya noticed a strange glow surrounding it—his SP power was activated, amplified by the drug.

Chuuya tensed. "Don't make me do this."

The man with the scar let out a low growl and charged at Chuuya, his fist flying through the air with reckless force. Chuuya sidestepped with ease, his instincts taking over, but his frustration was mounting.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Chuuya snarled as he dodged another punch. "I'm trying to help you!"

But the man didn't stop. His movements were wild, uncoordinated, as if the drug was driving him forward without any regard for his own safety. The other two men followed suit, their bodies twitching with unnatural energy as they lunged at Chuuya with fists and kicks.

Chuuya dodged and weaved between them, his frustration growing with every attack. "I'm not here to fight you!"

But they weren't listening. The drug had taken over, warping their minds until they were little more than puppets of their own power.

Chuuya's patience snapped.

With a swift movement, he delivered a crushing blow to the scarred man's chest, sending him crashing into the wall. Another tried to grab him from behind, but Chuuya spun, his gravity manipulation flaring to life. The man was lifted into the air, suspended for a moment before Chuuya slammed him into the ground with bone-cracking force.

The third man hesitated for just a second, but then, with a crazed look in his eyes, he charged again. Chuuya's anger was boiling over now. He grabbed the man by the collar, lifting him effortlessly with his gravity and throwing him across the room.

The fight was over in seconds, but Chuuya stood there, breathing heavily, his heart pounding with a mixture of anger and regret. He hadn't wanted to do this. These were his companions, people he had fought beside, people he had trusted. And now, they were lying on the ground, defeated, their bodies twitching from the aftereffects of the drug.

Chuuya stepped toward the scarred man, kneeling down beside him. "Why?" he asked, his voice softer now, almost pleading. "Why did you do this?"

The man coughed, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. His eyes, once wild and frenzied, now seemed to clear for just a moment. "We… just wanted to be… better," he rasped. "We thought… we could… keep up with you. Be… better companions…"

Chuuya's heart twisted painfully in his chest. He had never asked them to do this. He didn't need them to "keep up." But before he could say anything, the man's body went still. The aftereffects of the drug had taken their toll, and he was gone.

Chuuya stood, his fists clenched tightly at his sides. The other two had already succumbed to the same fate, their bodies broken from the inside out. The rage inside him burned hotter than ever, his grief fueling the fire.

He didn't need to hear anything else. His so-called companions had taken this path because of that damn drug, and now they were dead. Whoever was behind "Amp" had to pay.

With a determined snarl, Chuuya stormed out of the hideout, his mind set on one thing: revenge.

The industrial district was eerily quiet as Chuuya approached the warehouse, his footsteps echoing in the stillness. He had tracked down the source—the place where the drug was being distributed, the place that had destroyed his companions.

And now, he was going to tear it down.

As he neared the entrance, he could sense the presence of numerous SP users inside. Their auras flared like beacons, each one more dangerous than the last. But Chuuya didn't care. He was beyond reason now, his mind consumed by a single thought: retribution.

Pushing open the doors, Chuuya stepped inside. The warehouse was vast, filled with crates and machinery, but what caught his attention was the sheer number of people. Dozens of men and women, each one with an SP aura crackling around them. Their powers were varied—enhanced strength, explosive abilities, even some who could manipulate their own bones as weapons.

They turned to face him as he entered, their eyes gleaming with the drug-fueled madness that Chuuya had come to recognize.

"You're all going to regret this," Chuuya growled, his gravity manipulation flaring to life around him. The floor beneath him cracked as his power surged, the very air around him growing heavy with the weight of his anger.

Without waiting for them to make the first move, Chuuya charged. His fists flew, each strike amplified by his gravity, sending his opponents crashing into walls and crates. The enhanced SP users fought back with everything they had, but it wasn't enough.

Bones cracked, explosions rang out, but Chuuya tore through them like a force of nature. His companions were dead, and he was going to make sure that every last one of these bastards paid for it.

No one could stop him. Not now.
