章節 1: Entering The Arena

'One more day, only one more day and then my new life will start, and I can get out of this shit hole.'

A young man, seventeen to be exact, was sat on the floor of a dirty apartment with no furniture in. He was around six feet tall, with messy brown hair, blue eyes and a distinctive tattoo on the right side of his face.

His parents had recently died, leaving all of their debt to burden their son for the rest of his life. The young man, Mars, was more distraught about his future with all of the debt than he was for his parents, as they had never been good to him, instead spending all of their time gambling.

However, Mars had come into the possession of some information that would allow him to change his entire life around. He learned of a prison that would accept inmates of any kind, even those who are in serious debt, and they would help remove these problems.

The only issue was the method in which this was done, Mars did not know all of the details, but the basic premise was that the inmates would fight one another to rise the ranks of the prison, and the champion would be released, and all of their crimes or debt would be eliminated from their life. However, if the escapee was to commit another crime, their punishment would be immediate death.

This was what Mars was waiting for, as it was the day before he would be admitted to the prison, also known as The Arena. Ever since he learned of it, he had been doing as much training as possible in preparation, as there was still a lot he was unsure of in regards to the prison.

He continued to train, even though there was only a single day until he would enter the prison as he had applied a week prior.

He did as many basic exercises as he could without any equipment, as he did not have enough money to eat, let alone to buy weights or other equipment.

After around three hours of training, Mars decided he should sleep to make sure he would be well rested for when he entered The Arena, so he lay down on the floor as he did not have a bed, and went to sleep.

When he awoke the next day, it was not of his own accord, but instead because of banging on his door. He quickly got up to open it, and he was greeted by multiple men in suits who had some men who looked like bodyguards behind them.

One of them, the man at the front, spoke, "We are here to collect you for your entrance into The Arena, I must first confirm that you are certain of your willingness to enter The Arena, if that is the case, sign here."

The man presented Mars with a clipboard and a pen, and he quickly signed it without hesitation. The quicker he got out of his debt filled life the better, which meant the quicker he got in The Arena the better as well.

After signing the paper, the bodyguards blindfolded Mars and lead him to a car, where he sat for what felt like forever, unsure of where he was going.

When he had the blindfold removed, he could obviously tell that he was in his cell, as the walls on three sides of him were solid and had no windows, and the wall at the front was made of the same material, with a door that had two hatches, one at the bottom and one at the top.

There was a piece of paper on the bed in the cell, and Mars went to read it.

*Welcome to The Arena, the only prison that can guarantee a life free of a criminal record and debt, but can't guarantee your life.

In The Arena, you will be required to fight a minimum of one battle a day against a fellow inmate. If you win this battle, you will gain a single win on your record. To reach the next rank of inmate, you will need to gather ten wins to buy the ability to rank up. However, you will not immediately be ranked up, as for each rank you can reach double the required amount to rank up before you will have your rank forcibly increased.

You will also be able to buy loot boxes, our very own way of making yourself stronger. The loot boxes for this rank, the lowest rank, will cost five wins each. They may contain anything, it is simply your luck that will determine what you receive. You may purchase as many as you possibly can, but this will not remove wins from your record, so if you were to buy four as the lowest rank, you will still be forcibly ranked up, but you will be in a negative twenty win debt which means you will have to fight twenty more battles than someone without debt.

You may fight more than one battle a day if you please, as the red button on your desk will indicate that you are willing to fight, and if there is another inmate who has pressed the button, you will fight one another.

As a new inmate, your first battle will commence once you put on your inmate's uniform placed beside this letter. You will need to enter the hatch that appears in your room to get to the location.

You do not need to fight until the death, only until your opponent surrenders, but death is not prohibited.

Good luck.*

Looking over at the desk after taking all of the knowledge on the note in, Mars saw a black outfit on the desk which was incredibly basic, and he proceeded to put it on. Once he had it put on fully, a hatch opened up from seemingly nowhere in the corner of his room, and without hesitation, Mars jumped through it.

It was a tight fit, as he slid through a tube that seemed to be very complex, before landing on his feet in a plain white area with only one thing in the room, another person.

It was a bald man covered in tattoos of Nazi symbolism, and Mars immediately did not like him. He knew he was going to have to fight and injure someone else, and seeing his enemy, any pre-fight remorse he had was gone and he was ready to destroy his enemy.

There was no symbol for them to fight, nor was there a noise, so Mars decided that the fight started on their terms, so he began to approach the scum that stood ahead of him.

The man seemed relatively muscular, but also fat which was what most skin heads were like. He looked confident that he could beat Mars, and when he got close enough to him, he threw a punch towards him.

However, Mars easily dodged, weaving past the man's hand and returning a punch of his own to the man's stomach. This caused him to stumble back a little, and Mars followed up with an uppercut to the man's jaw.

Although he was not well trained in the art of combat, Mars had been in his fair share of fights, mostly due to his frustration at the world for his poor upbringing and lifestyle.

The man attempted to recuperate, but Mars did not give him a second to relax, as a powerful right hook connected with the man's chin which caused him to collapse to the floor.

Mars decided to make sure his enemy was beaten, especially as he was just a stain on the Earth in Mars' eyes. He grabbed one of the man's arms and snapped it clean into multiple pieces, which caused the skin head to let out a screech, only to be shut up by Mars' foot coming down on his face.

Once the battle was definitely won, a hatch opened up on either side of the arena once more, and an announcement rang out throughout the Arena.

'Mars is the winner. One win has been added to his record.'

Mars didn't even smile at the fact he had won, as he wanted to leave the wretched place as soon as possible, so he planned to fight as much as he physically could to escape as quick as possible.

He went back through the hatch, and felt himself being sucked upwards quickly before dropping into his room and immediately pressing the red button on the desk.
