章節 14: 14

JOHN'S POV.

Since Emily had left my house early that morning, my heart had been light. Emily was going to move in, and I was going to carry out my payback. It was petty of me, but Emily had gone too far. It was just too much.

My pride had been stung. I was not one who was used to getting shouted on or insulted. Never had any girl, or anyone spoke to me with such disrespect. I was going to put her back where she belonged.

How could she dare to behave coy or hard to get? Emily had broken the engagement, but one thing she didn't know was that she could never stop loving me. I was the man she'd loved since elementary school.

All through middle school, she'd only had eyes for me, and had been transformed into a smiling sausage when I asked her out. Emily didn't know it, but staying in the same house with me would make it hard for her to forget about me, or hate me.

In about two days, she'd be crying and wishing she could hold, and talk to me like she used to; in four days, we'd be making out again, and she'd realize she couldn't leave me no matter what.

I was going to make her realize my worth. When she saw how other women were clamoring to have me, treasure me, and cuddle me, she'd hold me tight when we got back together again.

Thinking of it, we had been together for too long. Maybe that was why she didn't see me as a big deal. All through senior year, and our college days, Emily and I had been together, and everyone knew us to be love birds.

They were also expecting our wedding, which was in a few days. What if rumors spread that I cheated?

Well, the only thing I had to do was warn Emily to let no one know we had called off the engagement. We were going to be back together in a matter of days, so the public could wait.

As for Lucas, I hadn't been around when he had returned from his morning jog, so he had called me, and told me he had to leave on an important business trip. It had pissed me off because we hadn't been able to talk much, but he had said he'd be back in a few days.

That was Lucas. Always going from one business trip to another. He wasn't the only businessman. I was also a businessman, and had my companies to manage, yet I was around most of the time.

My employees went on all the business trips needed, and we still had good results.

The next day, I waited for Emily in my house with Katie by my side.

Lucas had called me the previous night, and we had conversed a little.

Emily arrived quite early, with her luggage, and bag containing a few more things. We got into my car, and drove off to the family house. It wasn't far, so I wasn't really worried, as we passed by Emily's house.

She loved her maid terribly, so it'd be no big deal for her to make visits.

"So, every morning, I will have a task list prepared for you. You are to do everything on the list without question, and to be done by the time written on it. As my secretary you'll have to be fast, and sharp. It's not a job you sleep on, or can be really slow at." I said, looking at her through the front mirror.

"Yes." She replied, dully.

"You'll be working mainly with Katie. She'll take you shopping, and give you the right clothes to wear. She'll also take you around the family house, and introduce everyone to you, since she knows those stuff better than you do. That reminds me. No one is to know about our engagement being called off. If you don't want to lie, then you don't have to talk." I continued, but she didn't stop looking downwards.

"Lest I forget, you're to stop being a designer." I said, annoyed that she wasn't making any reactions. She looked up immediately, and met my eyes in the mirror.

A smile curved my lips. She was finally making the reaction I wanted.

"Why? Would it affect anything?" She asked.

"Everything. My secretaries work full time. You can go back to it after three years." I said, and she stared at me with something resembling hatred.

Wait, had I seen right?

There was no way Emily could look at me that way. Emily adored me.

She looked away, and turned her gaze outside the car.

"Did you hear me?" I asked.

"I did." She replied, still staring out the window.

When we got to the family house, I could see her staring hard. She was probably impressed. It was a mini palace, with five beautiful buildings built closely. I owned the one in the center, and it was where we were going to.

We walked in, and she couldn't resist staring at the halls, and their beautiful chandeliers.

Katie took her around, so she could choose her room, and she chose the last room on the first floor.

After settling in, all three of us went to shop for clothes. I couldn't help wanting to tag along. Seeing her reactions to different things had become an addiction.

Katie chose suits of different radiant colors, blazer dresses, heels, and bags that suited Emily. She also picked out a few for me, and lovingly, I picked out a few for her, but Emily wasn't even watching.

After picking up all the clothes we needed, we returned to the car, and I decided to keep my dissatisfaction about her acting completely disinterested.

After all, whether she liked it or not, she was going to hate her decision to break the engagement, and run her mouth thoughtlessly at me.

And the first thing I was going to do was bring in women.

Her Jealousy, and feeling of not being important was my target.

I was going to hurt her feelings badly.
