Aurora pushed her way past him, creating a distance between them by walking to the other side of the room. "Don't try to act so smart," she said, narrowing her eyes. "Why weren't you here last night?"
Azrael, leaning against the wall, met her gaze with an enigmatic expression. "I don't know. Perhaps I didn't anticipate you would miss me," he replied with a nonchalant shrug.
"You know very well that isn't what I meant," she said, glaring at him.
His lips curled up, and his grin widened as he responded. "Well if you must know, I was here last night. However, you were fast asleep, and I didn't want to disturb your peaceful slumber. I prefer not to hover around when you are in dreamland."
