"Who?" she whispered, with her brow slightly raised. "How do you know it was a person and not just something else? Were you watching me for long?"

His expression softened a bit, and the side of his lip curled up. "I have watched you enough to know that you don't shed tears for just little things," Azrael admitted with a small shrug. "And I know you would never let just anything cause you pain. You are a woman who doesn't easily back down from a challenge."

Her heart did another leap as she heard those words, and the fact that he had been paying this much close attention to her made her feel proud of herself for just a moment.
