章節 16: Chapter 16_ Flash Back
I sat on the door floor feeling sad. "He has to keep his distance from me, that the only way I can protect him." Then my memory flashes back to the dinner night.
FLASH BACK
He looked at me, brought at a cigarette, put fire on it and puffing out heavy smoke into the air.
"Is there someone else?" He suddenly asked
The question struck me unexpectedly. I was so much taken aback. "What? No… definitely no." I stammered.
He smiled puffing smoke into the air again. "I believed you Keisha and I'd hope you aren't lying else…" he made wry smiled again, kiss my forehead and left me.
I exhaled deeply and when I turn to the door, I saw Zoe leaving. I guess she had been ear dropping on our conversation secretly. That has already been what she's good at.
I went back to join then at the table. By the time I got there, the visitors were already leaving. I went to my room and about some minute later Zoe came to inform me that mother want me. I followed her to my mother chamber.
She was sitting in her usual position. She never gets tired of that couch and Philip never get tired of standing before her. He was like a pet to my mother.
"What's it I heard?" My mom asked
I look at Zoe who was smiling wickedly. "I don't understand you mom."
"Are you having an affair with the chosen one, are you having something with him?"
I wasn't surprise; I saw Zoe earlier ear dropping on my conversation with Mavis and told my mom. She was actually the big mouth type.
"A baobab's is forbidden from falling in love while on task neither falling in love with the wanted. I was brought up by a good tutor and I know the rules very well." I answered calmly.
"Fairly enough. You may leave." She answered pleased with my respond.
I bow and walked out. Zoe was disappointed at my very straight forward answer and mom reactions. Outside my Mom chamber I overheard mom telling Zoe to keep a close watch on me.
END OF FLASH BACK
"I have to make him stay away from me, that the only way I can protect him. But Wait, why do I have to protect him?" I thought. This was very unlike me.
Alice was driving very fast to Eleanor house. Ever since the night at the bar she hasn't be able to reach at Eleanor either. "Is she missing as well?" she has thought. Lot of thoughts has been running through her mind. Immediately she stopped her car at once.
"Where I'm going?" She questioned herself. "It not like I know her residence." She thought again. Ever since she knew Eleanor, she doesn't know a single thing about her and now she driving at a flashed to God knows where. She burst into a funny silly laughter inside her car.
Liam entered into the house returning from school. His mother was at the leaving room watching the TV.
"Hi mom"
"Hey son, welcome back."
He sniffed on some unpleasant smell. "what's this smell I perceive?"
His mom sniffed too. "Shit!" She run to the kitchen and later returned.
"Mom, were you cooking? How could you forget, do you want our born the house down?"
"I'm Sorry, I was really carried away by something."
"Anyway, is it eatable? I'm so hungry."
"Aren't you going to ask me what got me carried away?
"Food first, that can wait. He began walking away."
"I heard Eve is missing."
"Yeah I knew."
"And you're not even bothered. She said looking surprisely"
"Mom why…" I stopped and stopped walking as well. I remember I had lied to my mom that eve and I were dating. I had told her about it when I was crushing on her and she had encourage me to tell her how I felt and I did but I didn't have the courage to tell her that I was rejected and embarrass. She has persuaded me to bring her home severally and I had found one or two excuses. "We broke up" I lied.
"You guy broke up?" She asked shocked. "Why? When? What happen?"
"Last week." I lied again.
"Liam, this isn't good." She said nervously, standing up and walking to me.
"Why?" I asked surprise at her mood swigged.
"You broke up with Eve last week and this week she disappeared. Don't you think the police will come for you, for interrogations? Did anyone know about the break up between you too?"
I was relief. I puffed and rolled my eyes. "No, nobody knows and Mom, don't bother about it." I said and started heading to the kitchen.
"This is a serious issue Liam, the cop are still going to know about it somehow."
"Mom!" I yelled and stopped walking. "I'm tired and hungry okay." I walked out.
"Liam!" Mom keep calling.
