"Enough, Nathan!" Ava was already angry, but Nathan kept chattering on beside her.
"I don't want to pursue this any further. What do you want me to do? Should I admit that what you said is true, go to the old house and apologize to Grandma, and then continue to face Natalie's smug attitude?!"
Ava's outburst caught Nathan off guard, and he felt a surge of anger himself. He didn't usually tolerate being spoken to this way, especially from anyone else.
But since it was Ava, he had no way to retaliate and could only suppress his anger and respond calmly.
"That's not what I mean. I just don't want last night's incident to create any rift between you and Grandma."
Ava only sneered at that: "Rift?"
