"Ava is not going to make it..." Nathan felt a chilling wave wash over him, his vision darkening. He wished he could take her place. This was all his fault! Nathan pounded his fists against the wall in frustration. If Ava hadn't followed him abroad, she wouldn't be in this situation.

His knuckles were bloodied, but he felt no pain. His actions drew the attention of passersby.

"Sir! Sir, are you alright?"

When someone grabbed him, Nathan's vacant gaze revealed a man drained of all spirit. He felt like a shell of his former self.

Nathan remained in a daze until the doctor came out with a surgical consent form, snapping him back to reality.

"Is it dangerous?" Nathan's voice quivered with anxiety.

"All surgeries carry some risk. The patient is unconscious and too weak for a natural birth. We need to perform a C-section. Please sign the consent form."
