Nathan stood for a moment and then called a nurse to bring in an extra bed.
"Ava, it's too late tonight. You should head home. I'll stay here with Grandma."
Ava had initially wanted to stay with Nathan, but on second thought, she realized that Grandma already had a problem with her. If she woke up and saw her, it might just make things worse.
The doctors had already emphasized that Evelyn needed to avoid anger, so until her condition improved, it was probably best to stay out of sight. Ava sighed.
"If Grandma wakes up and sees me, she might get upset again. I'll leave her care to you. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help."
Nathan nodded, his expression still serious. Shortly after Ava left, Natalie showed up. She had wanted to follow when Evelyn was wheeled out, but Nathan's cold gaze had stopped her.
