Nathan didn't argue. He glanced at Natalie, who quickly interrupted before he could speak. "Grandma, don't blame Mr. Ford. I didn't want to trouble him."

Nathan smiled at Natalie's quick thinking. She was clever, giving him an easy way out while also gaining favor with Evelyn. Given her tragic background, Evelyn would naturally feel sympathy and wouldn't blame her.

"Nathan, is that true?" Evelyn patted Natalie's hand and turned to Nathan with a stern expression.

Nathan shrugged and stood up, looking nonchalant. "Whatever she says. If you truly trusted me, you wouldn't need to ask."
