章節 4: Peacemaker

Jasmine cleared her throat and asked, "why am I here?"

"Can't you see I kidnapped you?" Caden answered, bluntly.

"How did you kidnap me? You weren't even in the club last night."

"Oh, you didn't see me? Shame.. You wouldn't, after all, you were busy having conversations with two guys at different times."

"So what if you were at the club yesterday?there's no way anyone could kidnap me so easily , I'm Jasmine, remember. Unless I drunkenly followed you here," she said proudly.

"You should stop acting so smart because you're not as smart as you think. You're the dumbest person I've ever meet in the entirety of my life," Caden said, walking out of the kitchen, to the sitting room.

"Hey you, what do you mean? I'm supposed to be calling you that, after all, I smartly collected a share and half in your company," she said, standing up from the chair and following him out of the kitchen.

"I gave you that share because I wanted to, and not because you tricked me into signing a share transfer deed. If I didn't want you to have the share, then you wouldn't have had it. It's my company and I decide what happens. I didn't want to look like a coward and that's why I let you have it peacefully," He said, sitting on one of the couches and crossing his legs.

"No, you let me have it because, you couldn't afford to fight with one of the most prominent lawyers in the US. You know I'll always win, I've never lost a case before,"

"You think too highly of yourself, Jasmine. What makes you think there aren't any better lawyer than yourself? You're still so young and inexperienced," Caden asked.

"There might be, but seeing I won a case with the best lawyer in the US, I might as well be considered the best. And who told you I'm inexperienced? I've spent more than four years in this occupation. Also, those days in high school, if two students have a problem with one another, they'll quickly call me, and I'll perfectly resolve the issue," Jasmine defended.

"So you see, I've been experienced for a long time," she concluded.

"Ohh, I never knew you were a peacemaker in high school," He asked.

"Yeah, I've always been a peacemaker. You know, they say lawyers are peacemakers."

"Oh, peacemaker," he said, nodding his head like a lizard. What gave this girl the impression that she is a peacemaker? How can someone who always causes trouble and commotion wherever she goes, be a peacemaker? He still hasn't told her of her dumbness the previous night, but he'll surely tell her and mock her with it.

"Yes, so you shouldn't underestimate me by calling me inexperienced and young. I might even be older than you. Anyway, I'll go take a shower and then leave. This gown is so dirty and uncomfortable."

"I told you I kidnapped you, so where do you think you're leaving to, you ungrateful brat?" Caden asked, raising a brow.

"Well, although I can't remember the incident from last night or how I came here, I know I'm difficult to kidnap not even when I'm drunk. Talking about getting drunk, it's been a while I got drunk. Maybe I did get drunk yesterday and I unconsciously followed you home," She answered with a straight face. What if he had kidnapped her? She was going to find her way out of his house by hook or by crook. If they were going to have a fist fight, then so be it.

"You're my prisoner, and you can't force your way out of here. This is my mansion and I give the orders," He said, staring at her. This was starting to be fun. He was going to stop calling her his prisoner only if she starts getting scared. That would give him immerse satisfaction.

"That's your cup of coffee, not mine," she replied, using the back of her hand to swing her hair backwards before making to climb the stairs, but before she could, the door of the mansion sprang open, and two people walked in.

"Miss improper is here" Jay whispered in Shawn's ear, but Caden and Jasmine heard them clearly.

"I thought he took her back," Shawn whispered back, and Jasmine sighed. So, they were part of this kidnapping. These two gossipers. They always glue to Caden like gums. She wondered how he tolerate them.

"Oh, I see, Mr. gossipers are here. I'm surprised seeing you here, or don't you guys have any skirt to chase today?" Jasmine asked, turning her head to look at them.

"Wow... So, you finally regained your voice. Well, yesterday, I thought two months of not seeing you, you became dumb and stupid," Shawn said as they sat on the couch. Yes, he was still annoyed about his ruined birthday night. If it weren't for her, they would have had a lot of fun with the ladies on the bottom floor and on the top floor.

"I thought so too bro, it seems we all thought the same thing. Haha," Jay added, laughing lightly.

Jasmine stared at them in anger. She doesn't know what to do or say to come back at them.

"You all misread me last night. I was only trying to stay low-key and reserved and that's why I didn't do much or dance at the club," she managed to say. She couldn't even remember anything like her being dumb and stupid like they claimed she was. She knew her excuse was lame and blunt because the three of them suddenly burst into laughter. Ugh, why can't she recall the remaining part of what happened the previous night. It's sad, not knowing what she was being laughed at for.

"Your lie is so outdated, Jasmine. Although you're a lawyer, you still don't know how to lie. That's why I said you're inexperienced. You should go learn how to lie more," Caden said, smirking.
