“We can’t really say that though, can we, Rain?” I said.

“Yeah…true. We’re also here,” Rain replied as though she just recalled that. I shook my head lightly before crossing the road to a coffee place.

“One hot cappuccino,” I ordered. It was after a while of queuing that I got to order. Judging from the screening time, we were in no hurry. There were still two hours away from when the movie was going to start.

I opted to sit beside a window that allowed me to see outside from a wider angle. This coffee place was close to a portrait painter’s working spot. Couples, parents, and children used his service. I was watching aimlessly at a few painters scattered around the area before I stumbled upon one’s works.

He drew with simple watercolors. Brushstrokes with paint on them were placed without any prior sketches. His works were not portraits per se. They were more like pictures that exemplified the significant facial features of their subjects.
