“It’s not just girls though; it has to be pretty girls. Taking a girl for grinding, if she’s pretty…I’ll do anything for her.”
“How about this…From now on, we will send you items for you to sell; we discuss the price later. Everything…yes, ‘everything’ we’re going to put up for sale, we will leave it to you. For common cards, you can sell it freely and then divide the shares to us; for rare cards, we’ll discuss later,” Tan explained the deal he got in his mind.
Edward seemed to be interested in the deal. “Do you trust me? What do you do if I run away after selling the first batch of items?” He asked.
“You will lose your profits in the next batch which will be worth a lot more. If it can help me buy trust from a professional seller, then I’ll just wing it. It’s nothing compared to what’s lying ahead,” he replied with a serious voice.
Edward paused for a while and then reached out his hand “It’s a deal…” He smiled.
Tan smiled back as he walked towards Edward and shook his hand. “It’s a pleasure doing business with you. I promise that I’ll take you to a big city filled with beautiful girls to do business. If you want to go to a dangerous place, we’ll manage that for you.”
“You’re so bold. I like that,” Edward said. “What kinds of weapons do you use?” He asked.
Tan frowned and then replied. “Crossbow and bow,” he answered
“Wait…! Wait…!” Edward said and lifted his index finger up. He then dug through his inventory to find something. When he found what he was looking for, he handed it to Tan.
It was a War God’s Bow card…
“Trade with the spider card,” Edward said with a smile on his face.
Tan looked at the card and was surprised. “Hey! Mine is only a 7-star, but your card is an 8-star. Judging from its effect, I think it's worth a lot,” Tan exclaimed.
“If you don’t have good cards, then how can you find me rare cards?” Edward said while smiling.
Tan reached out to shake hands with his new partner. “I guarantee that your investment will pay off.” His voice was firm. A screen then popped up in front of him.
Player Somchok(1) has sent you a friend request…
Tan looked at his back to find the player that had sent him a request, but he found no one. When he turned back, he saw Edward simpered.
“Don’t tell me that Somchok is…” Tan gasped.
“Well, we can’t change our name in this game…” Edward seemed to be fed up. Tan laughed and accepted the request. The two waved goodbyes to each other. After that, Tan left Edward’s store and headed back to Blanche.
----------------
Tan smiled while walking back to Blanche’s sphere. When he reached his destination, he saw that Nicki had returned and was looking at the items he put up for sale.
“You collected items very fast,” she greeted. Tan nodded to that. “I have lots of items but have no time to sell them. Well…actually I’m just too lazy to sell them.”
“You like creating but not selling, right?” Tan said.
“Yep,” Nicki replied while forming a gun gesture and pointing at him.
“Two to three cards were sold after you left,” Blanche informed Tan.
“I’ve got someone to deal with selling stuff for us. We don’t have to waste time on this anymore. I know that none of us like selling stuff,” Tan said. “Plus, there’s actually someone who is not good at this at all.” Tan looked at Blanche and got a disapproving gaze back as an answer.
“Who is that…?” Nicki questioned. “Can we trust him?”
“Edward,” Tan replied.
“Edward?!” Blanche widened his eyes. “That well-dressed guy? I don’t think we can trust him.”
“If he’s the same Edward I know…then we can totally trust him,” Nicki said as she was pondering. “The guy dressed up nicely and wandered around the market, right?”
“You know about him?”
“Everyone knows about that old man.”
“Old man…?” Tan repeated.
“He’s about ten years older than us. Plus, he likes to fool around,” Nicki replied.
“Who is he exactly?” Blanche crossed his arms and asked.
“A famous businessman in this town who likes hitting on a girl. He doesn’t care about the level or fighting; only trading that he cares for. They said he is likely the richest man in this town,” Nicki described him. “And he is famous for…how he’s keeping his word.”
“That’s awesome if it’s true though,” Blanche said. “Ah…If he remains in this town, then he has only beginner’s items, right? What about when we need or want to sell some expensive stuff?”
“He’ll eventually go to a big city. There’s a lot of girls over there,” Nicki said and shook her head. “He’s so flirty. He even hit on me once.”
“He’s absolutely very flirty if he even hit on you,” Tan mocked and looked at Nicki.
“People are waiting in line just to go on a date with me!” She raised her voice, and then the three conversed with each other merrily while rearranging their decks for tomorrow's tournament. After a while, a voice rang out.
“Well…We seem to have nothing to do. You guys said it will take a while before you return; turns out, it only took a short while,” Blanche said. That made Nicki and Tan smile at him.
----------------
Eventually, the morning of tomorrow came...
Tan logged into the game and realized that Blanche and Nicki had been waiting for him at Nicki’s workshop.
“I thought you were going to be late,” Nicki greeted.
Tan walked merrily into the workshop and greeted his friend. “Today is the day of the exciting tournament. I was looking forward to that,” he said.
“Careful not to lose,” Nicki continued.
“Why is that?” Tan asked.
“This tournament used the rules in which the winning team can take three cards from the loser team’s deck,” Nicki answered.
Tan widened his eyes when he heard that. “Three?!” He exclaimed loudly. “Well…What should I take.” He seemed to be happy.
Nicki giggled when she saw his reaction. “Don’t you think about losing?” She asked.
Tan shook his head several times. “Nope…” He replied confidently.
Blanche laughed softly and said, “Let’s go to the colosseum. It’s starting soon.”
The trio then took off and headed to the colosseum—the place where the tournament to compete for the Caldia Castle Area Card was about to begin…
----------------
The colosseum was crowded with people; most of them were an audience. There were thirty-two teams or ninety-six contestants who would compete against each other in the tournament in which losers would be taken away three cards…
Tan went to the registration desk to confirm their status again. The staff asked them a question. “What name would your team go for?” A staff wearing oval-shaped glasses, who seemed to be quite strict, asked.
The trio looked at each other. “What is it?” Tan frowned and asked. “I’m not good at naming things,” Tan said as he recalled how the first NPC he met when he entered the game for the first time nagged on.
“I don’t know…” Blanche voiced.
“You must have a name,” the staff hurried them.
“What should we go for…? I can’t think of any yet.” Nicki was pondering.
“Eize…” A voice rang out in Tan’s ears. “Eizenger, master, our Area’s name.” It was Eize’s voice. His Area Fairy appeared with a smile on her face.
“Eizen…ger,” Tan murmured. Satisfied, Nicki and Blanche looked at him.
“Eizenger? I like it. There’s also Eize’s name. She’s one of our team members,” Blanche said and smiled to Eize, the Area Fairy who could only be seen by players in the same party as her master.
“I like it too…” Nicki nodded.
“We’ll go with Eizenger,” Tan said to the staff.
“Please write it down here,” she asked as she opened up a screen for Tan to put the name in. After he was done, she finally gave them their team number.
Team number 31…The next-to-last team…
“D Group,” she continued. “Please follow me to the contestant room,” she invited and led them to the room. The trio went inside and prepared themselves.
“We will begin the tournament shortly!” An announcement was made. In the first round of the tournament, four pairs would compete against each other at the same time, and it was down to two pairs at the same time in the second round. After that until the final round, it will be only one pair.
Time passed by…The first three groups got the winner of each group. It was finally Tan and his allies’ group—the D Group’s turn. The list of teams competing in this round was announced. The trio stood to their feet with determination filled in their eyes when a name rang out.
“Ei….zen…ger!” Their team’s name echoed around…

(1) Somchok is a very old-fashioned name. There are fewer people who still have the name, but they tend to be quite old now.
