章節 22: Declare the Name Part II

The trio returned to the colosseum to register for the tournament that was held tomorrow morning. Nicki looked around inside the colosseum to find the bald guy, luckily, he was not there anymore…

After successfully registering for the tournament and getting themselves a participant number, the trio went to the Church of Travelers which was available in every town. It served as the place for reviving players who died and for logging in and out formally. When players needed to leave the game urgently, the game would register the spot that players had left the game; if players came back within thirty minutes, they would find themselves at the same spot. If not, they would send the players to the nearest Church of Travelers. Players could leave the game like that once every 48 hours to prevent players from escaping the battle they were certain to lose.

“Hold on,” Tan called Nicki who was about to leave as he recalled something.

Nicki turned to Tan with a confused expression. “What…?” she calmly asked. Her eyes did not show any sign of hate.

“I want to ask you three things,” Tan went on as he picked something out of his inventory. “What can I do with this?” Tan handed Arachnid Metal that he got from the Sappatula Spider to Nicki.

“Let me see…” She started examining the metal that was the size of a fist. Blanche seemed to be interested in it too.

Soon, Nicki raised her eyebrows. “Wait…! This is the material for the gun weapon card quest!” Nicki continued, “I have searched for it for ages and couldn’t get my hands on one. I found it in the market a couple of times, but I couldn’t buy it in time.” She looked at the ore with sparkling eyes.

“350,000, friendly price,” Tan set up the price.

Nicki turned to Tan and nodded. “Sold, I’ll give you money,” she said. Blanche frowned when Tan asked Nicki to pay for the ore.

“No…I don’t take cash. I like it when you owe me something,” Tan said with a straight face. “You owe me 350,000. I owe you 100,000 for teaching me combo and 100,000 for the advice to go get the Job quest. I went to the NPC at the plaza and earned myself a lot of things, so that will be 150,000. It seems like we even now,” Tan rambled on just to hide the fact that he was bashful. Blanche smiled as he saw what his new friend did.

“I’ll make sure you owe me something again,” Nicki said with a smile.

“What about this…?” Tan handed out the black card that he had no idea what it was.

“It’s a card with some kind of quests related to it. These cards are black and have the word ‘Quest’ on the card.” She pointed at the word ‘Quest’ on the card. “I think it comes with a quest to collect cards in its series, Seven Sins, as stated below. It seems tough though…”

Tan frowned. Blanche who stood with his arms crossed reacted the same. “How tough…?” Tan asked.

Nicki pointed at the top of the card. “You see that?” Her finger pointed a word. “Unique…It meant that there’s only one copy of it in this game world.”

“Only one!” Tan exclaimed in surprise, while Nicki nodded in confirmation. “So, I can sell it for a good fortune?”

The girl sighed. “That’s what you’re thinking?! Who the hell is going to sell cards like this? If you get another card from its series and sell it as a set, it will be way much more expensive,” she yelled. “So…What’s your last question? I’m in a hurry…” She hurried him.

Tan looked around, took out a card, and called out Eize that had been hiding in his pocket. “It’s this one,” he said to Nicki. “Eize, come out,” Tan called Eize.

Nicki and Blanche were confused when they heard Tan called for someone. They had to widen their eyes when they saw Eize fly out and sit on Tan’s shoulder. “What’s that?! What is it?!” Nicki pointed at Eize and forgot about the card Tan had handed her.

“Don’t call me it!” Eize yelled with a rather displeased voice.

“Hi, I’m Blache,” Blanche introduced himself.

“I’m Eize…” She smiled back.

“Where did you find it…I mean…her,” Nicki asked.

Tan pointed at the card in her hand. “She came with that card.”

Nicki looked at the card in her hand “What?!” She exclaimed. “This is an Area Card!” She shouted so loudly that players in the distance turned toward them, making her lower her voice.

“How did you get this card?” She asked quietly.

“It’s a long story…The thing I’m confused about is its class.” Tan pointed at the ‘X’ letter written on the card. “What is it actually?”

Nicki narrowed her eyes and frowned. She touched her chin and turned serious. “X…? That’s strange, very strange,” she said.

“How?” Tan asked

“As far as I know, Area Cards are classified from H to S. The manual and the information from the system provide you with just that. This is the first time I saw an X-class card,” she said.

Nicki noticed he was sad, so she gently patted him on the shoulder. “We can ask around when we go to Calip. There are people who are experts at this stuff over there,” she consoled.

“Is it a porn card…?” Blanche asked.

Nicki immediately turned to him as Tan narrowed his eyes and stared at his friend. “Well…Stuff like this always has a letter X here and there.” Blanche simpered and scratched his head.

----------------

After the trio set up their appointment, Tan logged out of the game and went back to the real world, inside his large bedroom. One could see a lawn on the east outside from a big window. The lawn was lit with a dozen lanterns; it was nighttime in the real world.

He got up from his trendy-style bed, opened the door, and went downstairs. He opened a door to an empty library, then a door to a quiet living room, and entered a dining room. There was a long table with appealing food on top; the taste might as well be as good as its appearance.

“Young Master, your food is ready. If you want anything else, please tell me,” the maid who had been working here for over ten years told Tan worriedly.

“Where’s dad and mom? They said we’re going to have dinner together tonight,” Tan asked.

The sadness appeared in the middle-aged woman's eyes as she replied quietly, “Master and Madam have some urgent work and must fly to the States tonight.”

Tan stood still. He decided to leave an online world to meet his parents who had no time for him but provided him with money and a luxurious life. No one knew if they had provided enough for their boy, or if that was what the boy needed. In fact…it was the case now.

“I’m going outside,” Tan said calmly.

“Why don’t you eat something before that,” she asked with concern.

“I’m fine. I’ll find something to eat outside,” he replied and went upstairs to take a shower and get change. He came downstairs again in a black long-sleeved T-shirt that seemed soft and eye-catching. He wore jeans from the Italian brand and sneakers which were trendy in Japan.

Tan stopped in front of a small cabinet on the wall; there were a dozen motorcycle and car keys inside. Tan wanted to go for a night out in the city with his Ducati motorcycle, but he also wanted someone to talk to, so he went with a car that might help him attract that someone, the sports car worth ten or so million baht.

Red convertible Ferrari…

He got in the car, looked at his empty left-side seat, and softly sighed. He took his phone and called his friend from college.

“Hey…It’s me.” There was a bad signal at the other end. “I’m going for a night out. I’ll pick you up at your house,” Tan said as he started the engine.

“Ah…Why are you in Phuket…?”
