It might not be the same as when he put other cards as the card on the tray was illuminating. The card that was covered with light was not just any Summon Cards…

Tan stood still, watching his Area Card dissipate before his eyes. While watching the tray, he was filled with a lot of thoughts; his strongest Area Card was now dissipated, he did not know how to tell Nicki and Blanche who helped him get the card, and also, he did not know what to tell King Caldia.
