Ford stared at Mia, impressed by the ingenuity of using the hot water to create a source of warmth for him.

"Thank you," He chattered, reaching out to pull the warm canteen into his bedroll.

"You're welcome." She smiled softly. Ford glanced over to where Seth continued to busy himself with the horses.

"He doesn't seem to hate me so much anymore," Ford lowered his voice below what he hoped the man could hear.

"You're growing on him," Mia's smile broadened a little. "You have a talent for that, I think."

"Do I?" He'd never been told such a thing, but Mia nodded as if it were obvious.

"Sure. You save the life of anyone's daughter enough times and they're bound to like you eventually," She teased.

"Is that all it takes?" His sarcasm wasn't mean spirited, and she chuckled.

"That's all," She confirmed. "Easy, right?"
