章節 181: Ch. 181: Hanna Vs. Goten
"Well, that works out." I muttered to myself as I watched the tournament staff write down the last name in the tournament brackets.
Interestingly enough, things had worked out incredibly well for me. I was gonna fight Goten first thing, Pan would fight some random guy, Vegeta would fight Buu, Trunks vs. Piccolo, Goku against another random guy, Uub and 18 would fight, then Tien would fight some random guy.
That meant that after I beat Goten, I'd go on to fight Pan. Vegeta would go on to fight the winner of the fight between Piccolo and Trunks, Goku'd fight the winner of Uub and 18's fight, and Tien would get an easy ride straight to the semi-finals.
Honestly, I'd have preferred to fight both Goten and Trunks at some point, but I didn't really need to be nitpicky. Fighting both Goten and Pan would work perfectly fine for me.
"You're Hanna, right? Don't worry, girl. I'll go easy on you, then maybe you and I can go out for a bite after I win?" Goten said, picking me out of the crowd due to the fact that 18 and I were the only girls in the tournament. My skin crawled, my biological brother was hitting on me. I was rearing to hit him back, as hard as I could without killing him.
"You won't be in the mood." I retorted.
"Just don't take your loss too hard, alright? Anger might mar that pretty face of yours." Yup. I wanted to hit him so badly. Instead, I bit my tongue and placed my hand on Trunks' shoulder beside him.
"My condolences on your loss. He will be missed, by someone... maybe." I consoled the teenage Trunks on the future loss of his best friend.
"Err..." Trunks didn't know how to respond to that. Knowing how Goten was, it was clear that he wasn't totally discounting the chances of me actually killing him, though. He seemed conflicted.
"Bye, Uncle Goten! Good luck not dying!" Pan waved him off as we entered the arena side-by-side.
"Oh, come on, Pan! You know that nobody stands a chance against your uncle when he really takes a fight seriously!"
"Yeah... good luck with that. Rooting for you, son!" Goku called from beside Pan as they watched us go up to the arena from the waiting room.
"Son of the man who once won this very tournament back in the day... One of the strongest men alive today... it's GOOTEN!" At the announcer's introduction, a bunch of female voices started screaming for Goten, who raised his hand in the air, soaking it all up.
He'd been a cute kid... I idly wondered what'd happened.
"And in the other corner... someone who seemed to have just dropped out of the sky today...! The dark horse that we currently have no information on other than her name... One of the only two girls in this tournament... HANNA!" Ironically enough, the cheering for me was louder than the cheering for Goten, even though nobody knew me. I supposed that Goten was just that much of a playboy. Reminded me of Yamcha in a way. I couldn't stand Yamcha.
Casually sealing all but around half a percent of my energy, I didn't even bother getting into a fighting pose.
"I wouldn't look down on me, if I were you. I've been told that I'm pretty strong." Goten said, getting into a lazy fighting pose despite the fact that he clearly didn't know how strong I was. I kind of wondered how he couldn't tell that I was strong. I mean, I understood that he couldn't sense divine energy, which was my energy's natural form in this state, but the fact that he couldn't sense my energy at all should have made him up his guard to some extent.
Even from here, I could hear Gohan and Krillin talk about how Goten was definitely going to lose. Surprisingly, Gohan could apparently sense divine energy, and he was not envying Goten at the moment.
"Alright, then. If you're stronger than me, then end the fight with the first strike. It's the chivalrous thing to do." I goaded. Luckily for me, Goten was stupid enough to take the bait.
"Alright. I'll take you out fast, but after I do, we're going on a date, alright?" He asked me.
"It's a bet. You win, we'll go on a date." I could hear the ladies in the crowd boo me for 'giving in' to his advances, but the facts were that Gohan was never going to beat me in a fight, so it didn't matter.
"AND... FIGHT!" The announcer called, starting the battle.
"Alright! No hard feelings, then!" Goten didn't hesitate. He held his energy back a lot, but almost the same moment that the announcer started the fight, he landed a palm strike directly against my stomach. A normal person would've been blown out in an instant by the casual force that Goten'd put into his palm, but they wouldn't have been hurt too much. Against me, it was less effective than a stiff breeze.
"Try again." I gave him another try. Realizing that I was stronger than a normal person made Goten's face spasm. Apparently, he'd figured that I'd just not had much energy to sense. The realization that he simply couldn't sense my energy made Goten finally take me seriously.
"Alright, so you're pretty strong. But you still can't win against me!" Goten's energy flared as he gathered power, before trying another full-force punch. This time, he held nothing back. In fact, the force was so great, that when I caught his fist, the energy behind it cracked the stage beneath us. "Still nothing!? HAAAA!" With his fist still in my hand, Goten pulled out all the stops, going Super Saiyan and flaring his energy once more. But the only thing that moved was the stone floor beneath us. I still wasn't putting in any effort at all.
"You can't go past Super Saiyan?" I asked him casually.
"What!?" He exclaimed, inadvertently answering my question as he looked at me with shock in his eyes.
"Disappointing." My following gut punch knocked him unconscious on the spot. Honestly, though, he deserved it. He wasn't Gohan, he actually liked fighting, at least a little bit, yet after almost a decade of being capable of going Super Saiyan, with the greatest role models in the universe helping him, he still wasn't capable of something that Caulifla from the sixth universe had figured out almost immediately.
