The bell had just rung and Chen Jin was walking to the open place where he'd fought the day before.
He'd woken up, done his morning ritual and with no small amount of dread gone to the cafeteria where he'd met Shao Xin for the first time, he was extremely nice and a great cook thankfully, the food wasn't anywhere near as bad as in the original. Though the ingredients weren't exactly top notch.
Maybe the food worsened after? The current students all had silver badges, so they probably made a lot from winnings and bets. Certainly better than in the beginning of canon when one of the students was a food type and the other two weren't at the peak of their ranks.
Tie Qiang and Feng Shizi were already there when he'd arrived. He was going to say something but he was interrupted.
"I see you're all here" Flenders said as he reached them. "The two of you already know how Shrek works" he looked at the two oldest "I already intruducted everyone to you yesterday so I'm only going to explain how classes work" Flenders continued looking now at him.
"We give a great amount of freedom to our students most of the time, the classes when you have them are practical for the most part, you might have classes three days in a row and not have them for a similarly great amount of time and you're allowed to skip classes if you want.
Do be warned that if you do it too much I or the vice Dean will check on you. If we see that you have been slacking off you'll lose that freedom along with being forbidden from leaving the academy for a while".
Flenders stopped here for a bit before continuing.
"Any of the teachers are available during the day to help with your training, you just need to ask. It doesn't matter if it's for a spar or just more knowledge, as long as we can help we will, you will set your own speed."
Flender became a bit more serious then "Normally you would be required to fight in the great arena at least once every two weeks, there's a limit to what you will gain by sparring with the same people, but as you are still young you won't be going there yet, it's not too late to go when you reach level thirty".
"Any doubts?" he asked.
It was a lot more lax than he was expecting, he had to admit, but he actually liked the freedom. Chen Jin had already kept himself training before without reminders, it was not a problem to do it now.
He shook his head in the negative "No, I do not".
Flenders nodded at him before continuing "Then the only thing left to say is that there are no classes left this week, we teach on rotation five days a week so either you ask someone or you can do your own thing".
"What are you going to do today?" Feng Shizi asked as Flender left.
"I think I'm going to be meditating and training my spirit skills for today" Chen Jin responded after thinking for a bit.
He wanted to ask Zhao Wuji help to train his body, but he thought he was way too young for that, he's not an expert, especially not with soul power involved, but he had no desire to do any damage to his body, he had no problem in waiting for a few years for that kind of training.
Sparing twice a week would be enough to test his improvement and gaining experience, he'd ask somebody tomorrow or the day after.
Or he could ask now.
"I wouldn't say no to a spar tomorrow if you don't mind though"
"Ohh? You think you can fight me little guy?" Feng Shizi asked playfully.
"He can" the shield master but in with a closed eyed nod, as if he were speaking a profounf truth.
Chen Jin continued "Even a child would be able to"
"You are a child!" Feng Shizi pointed at him as he said.
Tie Qiang laughed at that "And there you have your proof"
The Lion spirit master looked betrayed "Why are you two ganging up on me?!"
"It's easy" "Seemed fun" came the responses.
It was on a good note that they separated, the preteen going to the forest by the dormitories and the two teens going to Soto.
As Chen Jin walked to the forest he thought about what he wanted to do in the next few years. It was basically only ways to improve himself for now unfortunately. Not a lot of excitement in his near future, he couldn't exactly pack his bags and go see the world now. There also wasn't anywhere that he could go now that could benefit him.
One of the gifts that his first spirit ring gave him was the ability to feel the forces around him and learn to use them through comprehension like light and wind. He was certain that That was going to be a great part of his future. But it would take time to get started. So developing what he'd taken to calling neutral skills, skills with no affinity, seemed like a good idea.
That way, when he did reach a certain level of control with the elements he would already have a base to start with. Just adding wind or fire to the spirit blade would be a completely different skill in terms of damage. Or fire and water to wave burst.
Ohhh so many possible skills. Like the Rasengan from naruto or something more simple like mana bullet from the gamer. Maybe something like a bow? Two different kinds of propulsion.
Wings of spirit energy? No... That not only seemed costly, but it would work better when he could control wind.
But he wanted to fly... Maybe a small platform of energy to give an impulse? It wasn't exactly flight but it was better than nothing...
It was with ideas swirling in his head that Chen Jin continued walking to his destination.
Hello everyone!
Not completely satisfied with this chapter.
As can probably noticed from the end of the chapter there will be a small time skip to the next chapter. And it will continue with timeskips between chapters until he's ten.
You know guys (and girls), I seem to have found myself in a bit of a problem.
I have the guidelines for the plot for after he's ten made, but I haven't the foggiest of what to write before. So timeskips.
