pausing to let the students write down notes the teacher began again. "a bloodline's strength and purity come from its density and closeness to a progenitor. through our studies, we have found that bloodlines first originated from a kind of these 'progenitors'. a progenitor is the beginning of a species in the most literal sense. be they the first of their species to evolve or someone who changed due to an outside factor, a progenitor is the 'father' or 'mother' of a species. take dark elves, for example, the first dark elf was used by a mistake in dark magic to summon the dark god draida which caused her to be cursed by said god and become the first dark elf."

after letting the students take more notes he continued "an example of a progenitor caused by evolution are the mountain dwarfs. Due to a civil war, a clan of dwarfs was forced to live in a mountain range but because of the difficulty to reach them, they didn't learn of the news of the war ending causing the crowning of the first dwarf kind eldon. after a long time one dwarf was born differently from the rest, he was the progenitor of the mountain dwarfs that evolved to suit their mountain homes better.

people will awaken their bloodlines when they first become a mage or cultivator because of the fundamental change caused by this. some bloodlines will have an outside effect even when they are dormant. take for example beast kin, while they won't have all the benefits of an awakened bloodline they are stronger and will most of the time have some sort of outward indicators such as wings, a tail or animal ears even when the bloodline is dormant."

other than this new information there was nothing of interest throughout the rest of the day besides cain choosing the electives 'hunting' and 'mana studies'. he chose hunting for obvious reasons and mana studies as it was based around not just the energy but the things it caused such as the changing of plants and minerals due to high exposure.

walking over to his new dorm room he was excited as he had finally completed a beta version of the energy caused by the fusion of mental power, qi, and mana which he was calling 'aither'. walking into his room he saw his roommate who happened to be Seth. ignoring the sleeping half-orc, something he had learnt while talking with him. he laid down on his bed and entered the white room.

"so how far are we from perfecting the ratios?" {about 87% of the way there, we should be finished in about thirty minutes. till then you can continue studying those bloodlines of ours.} after getting his answer from Enoch cain brought up his own bio-map before using his new-found knowledge to see which ones he had currently. bloodlines were magically charged genes similar to MG's and PMG's but they were much more complex, MG's were a byproduct of bloodlines in fact.

as cain looked through his bio-map he used a combination of his system and his knowledge to single out the different bloodlines he had but as time went on he became more and more distressed. "there a mess, it's the aither problem all over again. I have way too many and all counter one another in some way. If I awaken them I have a 100% chance of dying. Enoch, have a look at this." {damn, this is bad. and unlike what we did with either we can't just use another energy to fix this because that would cause even more problems.}

Long after the energy equations had been completed and even begun to adapt to his new knowledge to fit in with the new data cain where still trying to find a way to fix this problem. {wait. are we dumb?} "we are smarter than 98% of people in our class and that other 2% is our teacher. so no, we aren't dumb." {i don't mean like that. why don't we just create our own bloodline, one that will absorb the traits of the bloodlines we devour and use them and others to strengthen itself indefinitely?} staring blankly at his second soul which Enoch was in, cain just said "i guess we are stupid." before taking apart every bloodline he owned to find out how to make one of his own before he had a thought "but what about bloodlines that have stronger traits than the ones we have at that time. will our bloodline replace the old one or will it reject the new one?"

{simple, it will use the new bloodline trait to strengthen its own. effectively combining the two and getting a stronger one as a result. and we can use a modified version of the growth chamber to give us the formula for the purer version of the bloodline over time by using other samples.}

having an outline of what his bloodline would do cain began to work harder on his new project. as time went by cain continued to work on his bloodline while becoming friends with Seth as he was a pretty cool guy. while he was doing this Enoch had been working on updating primal growth and aither for cains new bloodline, adding a function to primal growth that would replace his current blood with his new blood that would hold the bloodline.

on the seventh day of school, cain walked over to the auditorium as today he and the rest of his class would be beginning their growth as cultivators or mages. after entering the auditorium cain stood next to Seth before his teacher and the principal walked over to the stage that was set in the middle of the room. using mana to amplify his voice so it would spread across the whole auditorium so everyone could hear, he said.

"Today is the day that you shall all begin on your path to greatness. there are rooms that have been set up so that you may cultivate or meditate in peace as well as for privacy as some of you may have secrets that you do not wish to share. once the bell rings you will go to your assigned room. I wish you good luck."

as he finished his speech the bell rang and cain began to walk over to his room so that he could start on his path to greatness. historians would look back on this day and call it 'the birth of the great void'. but that was a story for another time
