章節 81: Fang Baichuan's Sister

"Ah! So, it's a woman?" The assailant was not the necromancer I had anticipated, which took me by surprise. Kicking the door open, I found a petite girl crouched on the floor. Beside her lay a rather large, stylish handbag, and her long black hair cascaded down her shoulders like a shimmering waterfall, exuding a vitality of its own. Upon seeing me, she hesitated for a moment, then gritted her teeth, using her injured leg to rise, her fists clenched, adopting a stance ready for confrontation. "Why did you kick down my door?" I felt little animosity towards this girl, as my ability to foresee the past and future had not alerted me to any danger; it merely indicated someone was about to kick the door, clearly suggesting she was not an enemy. "What is your connection to the murderer of my brother? I won't let you escape!" I was utterly bewildered and asked, "Who is your brother? With which murderer am I associated?" "My brother is Fang Baichuan. Don't pretend you're not with that man called Axe!"

"Ah!" I exclaimed in surprise, then scrutinized the girl more closely. She appeared to be in her early twenties, perhaps a year or two older than I, standing at around five feet five inches tall, yet her figure was remarkably well-proportioned. Clad in a simple, loose skirt paired with soft-soled sandals, she radiated youthful exuberance. I could no longer recall Fang Baichuan's appearance, thus I could not discern any resemblance between him and his sister. All I could ascertain was that this girl was undeniably beautiful.

"I do know Axe, but I certainly did not kill your brother." Noticing her struggle to stand on one leg, her body swaying, I extended my hand and said, "Would you like me to help you inside to rest and then call an ambulance for you?" My inquiry was quite ordinary, yet it heightened Fang Baichuan's sister's vigilance. She scoffed, preparing to respond, but I swiftly placed my arm around her shoulders and supported her leg, lifting her into the room. Initially, she intended to resist, but my strength was unusually formidable; her attempt to struggle only exacerbated her leg injury, causing her to wince in pain. I gently laid her on the bed and, using a healing card, asked slowly, "How did you know I was acquainted with Axe?"

"I live in this apartment building. Yesterday, I saw you with that man downstairs and spent the whole day finding out you lived in this room." Fang Baichuan's sister moved her calf slightly and discovered that the pain had considerably diminished. Naturally, she suspected no foul play on my part, attributing her earlier discomfort to the severity of her injury, which had now eased. My demeanor was calm and composed, and given my apparent youth, her hostility lessened as she spoke candidly.

Upon hearing her explanation, I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I had initially feared that a necromancer had discovered my presence here and leaked my whereabouts. Just moments ago, I had regretted my lack of experience and underestimated my opponent. "As long as it's not the necromancer who has discovered me, I can decide later how to handle Fang Baichuan's sister." As I contemplated how to address this unexpected situation, Fang Baichuan's sister lowered her right leg and declared, "I can't believe even high school students are getting involved in the underworld. You'd better be honest, or I will call the police."

I quickly raised my hands and replied, "I haven't done anything! Why are you accusing me? I thought it was a gang coming to knock on my door." I was unafraid of the police, as I had no criminal record and no intention of violating any laws; Fang Baichuan's sister's threat held little weight for me. "You little punk, don't call me 'sister'!" I smirked and said, "But you are indeed older than I am! I don't even know your name."

"You…" Fang Baichuan's sister was momentarily at a loss for words, yet I was undeniably more youthful. She struggled to formulate a retort. My earlier display of strength had left her regretting her decision to confront me alone, but my cooperative demeanor was even more surprising. She had expected to encounter a ruthless criminal, only to find me a compliant citizen.

Testing her leg, she realized it was completely fine, and Fang Baichuan's sister quietly replied, "I am Fang Yeyu. I am seeking revenge against Axe, so you had better tell me where he is." Fang Yeyu's feet, bare in her soft-soled sandals, were as white as jade, captivating me momentarily. Realizing it was impolite to stare at a young woman, I redirected my gaze, observing the serious expression on Fang Yeyu's delicate face, and sighed, "Didn't you see the police cars downstairs? They are there to apprehend Axe. If you wish to find him, you can wait for the police to catch him and then throw a few rotten eggs or tomatoes, or even some throwing knives—no one will care."

"What?" Fang Yeyu exclaimed, rushing to the window. However, the police acted swiftly, and soon their convoy departed, leaving her unable to see if anyone had been apprehended. "You better not be lying to me!"

"Believe what you want, but you should fix the door; otherwise, I will accuse you of sexual harassment. You know, molesting minors is a serious crime." My accusation left Fang Yeyu blushing furiously, and as she turned to retort, I casually strolled away with my hands in my pockets. I typically wasn't so flippant with my words, but Fang Yeyu's older sisterly demeanor incited an impulse within me to capture her attention. This was, in fact, a sign of youthful immaturity.

"The plan to eliminate the necromancer has failed, and I may face retaliation. How can I prevent this from happening?" Such battles require not only strength but also cunning. It was evident that I lacked the necessary experience and training to engage my opponent in a battle of wits. However, conceding defeat equated to a death sentence; I absolutely could not abandon this mission. Fang Yeyu was not a figure of great importance to me, and having confirmed there was no threat, I paid her little mind. I knew she was following me discreetly, but I trusted she would soon lose interest. As for the rented apartment, I had no desire to return; no matter how hard she searched, she would never find me.

Just as I contemplated finding a place to grab breakfast to soothe my rumbling stomach—having gone a night without much sustenance—a sudden instinct of foreboding arose within me.
