Standing on the roof, alone with just their company, cursing away at reality. Has he done that with others?

The topic was casual, yet the way he spoke about it really troubles me. Not liking a marriage proposal is normal, but why think too much? The king can't force him, so why must he wish for death then just rejecting it?
