"Do you need company to get home or anything?" I asked, and Ilya just shook his head in denial.

"Thanks for the offer, but I don't think it'll be necessary. You probably have someone waiting for you, right? I don't want to hold you up for too long" Ilya said, a slight smile on his face.

While I understood what he meant, his words had the opposite effect: now I wanted even more to take him home. But insisting would be strange, so I decided to just let it go.

"Alright, I'll give you my number. If you need anything, don't hesitate to call me. We're a team, and it's natural to help a member who's going through tough times" I said, trying to make my point clear.
