章節 132: Chapter 132

After Kara finished trimming down the Parallax entity, it had transformed into a long, limbless worm. Even the wings on its back, once part of its fearsome visage, had been severed by Kara.

In truth, the Parallax entity didn't need wings for flight; they were likely there just for the image, serving no real purpose.

Once Kara completed her task, all the power the Parallax creature had amassed over the years was automatically absorbed into her body, merging with her own strength. It was as if the universe itself was giving her a gift.

Now, holding what was left of Parallax's body, Kara fashioned green constructs with her ring to control its remaining limbs, intending to bring it closer to the sun.

Despite her stunning beauty, Kara was no stranger to wild experiences. In her travels across the universe, she had tasted a variety of unusual foods, so the Parallax creature didn't faze her. Although she hadn't tasted it earlier, now she was contemplating it.

But at that moment, a voice broke through: "Kara, stop!"

Behind her stood the Guardians of the Universe, who had left Oa to intervene in person. They had discovered the body of an ancient Guardian drifting in space—an original being who, after becoming possessed by fear itself, transformed into the Parallax entity that had once terrorized the universe. Only through Kara's efforts had he been freed from this curse.

Kara turned back to the Guardians. "Why should I stop?" she asked.

"The emotional spectrum can protect the universe, but it can also destroy it," they cautioned. "If you kill this being, it may disrupt the balance, putting all of existence at risk."

Unlike Parallax's host, Parallax itself was the embodiment of fear itself. Destroying its previous host was not a serious issue, which is why the Guardians had remained silent until now. But when they realized Kara intended to destroy Parallax entirely (and perhaps consume it), they quickly appeared to intervene.

The Guardians hadn't been watching Kara constantly, but they'd anticipated a significant confrontation, keeping them alert.

Kara looked at them, then back at the Parallax entity held firmly in her grasp. It was silent now, save for the cold hatred burning in its gaze.

With a smirk, Kara spoke. "Don't worry. I've no plans to let this thing live."

"Kara!" the Guardians cried out in unison.

Kara, however, did not turn around. "If I leave it here, it may come back to seek revenge someday. It could harm those I care about. To prevent that, I'll make sure it's eradicated entirely."

She grinned down at the Parallax entity. "Do you really think killing a creature like you could collapse the universe? I doubt it. And if that is indeed the case, well, I'm not here to preserve the status quo."

"She's mad!" the Guardians shouted.

"Stop her!"

"But how?" one Guardian exclaimed, exasperated. "She holds ten Lantern rings, and she's a Kryptonian! You know what that means. That's why we don't let Kryptonians join the Corps."

Kara's ears perked up at this remark. For years, she'd wondered why there hadn't been a single Kryptonian Green Lantern in over a hundred thousand years. Now she had her answer—prejudice.

Angered, Kara ignored their protests.

"You can't kill me!" Parallax suddenly sneered in a cold, mocking tone. "This is my true form. You may destroy this body, but you'll never fully eliminate fear. I know what you fear, Kara… your parents on Earth, the people you love."

Kara's grip tightened around the entity, nearly crushing its head. But Parallax laughed, more maliciously now. "You can't stop me. One day, I'll make you my own fear-powered puppet and destroy you from the inside."

Kara took a deep breath, her eyes blazing. In the vacuum of space, she exhaled, creating a ripple across the surface of the sun before her.

"Parallax, others before you have tried to frighten me. And every one of them is dead now." She paused, laughing coldly. "You're nothing but a bug."

Parallax roared defiantly, "I am no mere fear! I am eternal!"

"Really?" Kara laughed, brandishing the full light of her ring. "I know I can't kill the emotional spectrum, but who said I had to? All I need to do is sever your connection to it."

Without waiting for Parallax's response, Kara drove her hand straight into its head.

"What… what are you doing?" Parallax's voice faltered.

Kara chuckled. "Playing mind games with me? My friend, I've faced monsters worse than you. Do you really think I'd fear a bug who dared to threaten my family?"

The Guardians stood speechless, watching as Kara, consumed by fury, drew Parallax closer to the sun's blazing surface.

"Kara!" they called, horrified.

But she held up a golden sphere—a containment for the fear spectrum—and tossed it to them without looking back. "Relax, Guardians. I haven't destroyed the emotional spectrum. You can use this to create the next Parallax."

Turning to Parallax, she smirked, "You're just a monster in a yellow cloak. Now let's see if you're as tough as you claim… or maybe, just maybe, you're delicious."

With that, Kara cast the remnants of Parallax toward the sun, letting it be devoured by the flames.
