Adrian read through CADMUS archives, detailing all the failed and discontinued experiments. He browsed through the world's timeline, and learnt that he now resided in an apocalyptic landscape
'Shit', he huffed
'16th December 2010, during a confrontation with Toyman, Superman, (Kal-El) disappeared. Many heroes believed him to be dead
A public funeral was held for the Hero of Metropolis. Batman, a senior Justice League member was noticed missing.
It was later noted that Batman refused to acknowledge Superman's death and launched several satellites into space. These satellites were programmed to record and monitor Kyptonian signatures. Years passed, yet Kal-El, never returned
The world continued without him'
'How does CADMUS know this?', he questioned
'3rd March 2021, a supervillain, Count Vertigo, found his way into the Watchtower, and proceeded to violate the only person stationed on the satellite- Sue Dibny, wife of Elongated man.
The Justice League returned and were shocked to discover Vertigo's crime. Unwilling to let such an act to go unpunished, several members decided upon an unorthodox means of rehabilitation. While the others held Count Vertigo down, Zatanna used her magic to permanently alter his personality. Instead of existing as a psychotic rapist, he would now act as a slow-witted, clumsy super-villain incapable of overcoming even the most meager of threats.
As Zatanna completed her spell, Batman entered the satellite and witnessed what had taken place. The conspirators knew that they had to keep this a secret from the senior members, so Zatanna wiped Batman's mind clean of the memory of the event.
Years passed, and Batman's memory eventually returned to him after Sue Dibny was murdered.
He could no longer trust the Justice League and embarked upon a plan of action to keep an eye on them.
The satellites he had launched to monitor Kal-El's return were repurposed to document and monitor every metahuman on Earth.
This world-wide surveillance system was named Brother Eye
Brother Eye was launched on 31st October 2021'
'So Batman's distrust destroyed the world?'
'Through the use of Brother Eye, Batman collected a massive database of information concerning every known metahuman on Earth. Brother Eye's existence was noticed by The Light, (an organization of supervillains), and they hacked it to aquire information.
They then, used it to kidnap children across the globe
This mass-trafficking epidemic was never stopped by the Justice League'
'The Light? I'm in the Young Justice Universe? But Superman never died in the animated series.. so I'm in an alternate version'
'Batman's investigation uncovered the misuse of his Brother Eye system, and he was forced to reveal its existence to the Justice League. Following said confession, Batman was voted out of the organization, and heroes Zatanna, Green Arrow, Elongated man, Ray Palmer and Guy Gardener left the League due to shame and guilt
Brother Eye was shut down on 1st January 2022'
'An incompetent Justice League?'
'UN Secretary-General Lex Luthor had helped pass many resolutions that obstructed Justice League and heavily curtailed other heroics. Frustrated, many Justice League members including Wonder Woman, Black Canary, Aquaman, Hal Jordan, BatWoman, the Atom, Hawk, Dove and Miss Martian resigned'
'Hawk? Dove? Original Characters?'
'On 5th March 2023, superheroes Black Canary, Green Arrow, Red Tornado, Zatanna, Supergirl, and a team of sidekicks called The Team, were reported missing. Following their disappearance the world learnt that Justice League had a team of teenagers run covert missions and their global approval fell. Many countries lobbied for the discontinuation of the Justice League
Justice League stopped its operations on 30th September 2023'
'So no JL?', Adrian looked bewildered, 'Fuck'
'A team called Teen Titans started operating out of Jump City. It's members consisted of Red Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy. They later expanded with the inclusion of Arrowette, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, Kryto the Dog, Arsenal, Superboy and Robin'
'Teen Titans? Not the animated series'
'The Outsiders, a mysterious group of superheroes who were rumored to work alongside Batman emerged as well'
'Metropolis was protected by a superhero team called Infinity Inc. They were funded by LexCorp, and quickly grew in popularity. Their members included Fury, Trajectory, Everyman and Kobold'
'A female superhero team consisting of ex-supervillains Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and former Justice League members Katanna, Miss Martian and Huntress formed a team called Birds of Prey. The team operated out of Gotham and later expanded to include members Zealot, Batgirl, and Catwoman'
'On 27th July 2024, the Green Latern Corp was dissolved. Hal Jordan, a former Justice League member, was announced dead
CADMAS members recorded romours that Hal Jordan destroyed the Green Latern Corps after losing his mental stability'
'Is this the Parallax storyline?', Adrian wondered
'On 13th August 2024 Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Arsenal were admitted to Star Labs. They were fatally wounded in battle following the betrayal of their newest member Terra'
'On 29th September 2024, DARKSEID arrived'
'HOLY SHIT', Adrian gasped
'DARKSEID was reported to be a New God, some called him a galactic warlord. He portaled to Earth with armies of Parademons, his generals, called The Elite, and waged a two-month long war on Planet Earth.
Former Justice League members, supervillains, CADMAS projects, members of The Light, galactic mercenaries like Lobo, and militaries of several countries banded together to fight this war. Eventually DARKSEID left. This war was dubbed Apokolips War, killed several heroes and villains including Batman, Flash, Firestorm, Katanna, Wonder Girl, Captain Cold, Mirror Master and Catwoman'
'Cyborg who was recovering at Star Labs was reported missing'
'DARKSEID kidnapped Cyborg?'
'15 days after his disappearance, Cyborg was reported to have teleported Coast City. With him he brought a virus, CADMUS scientists would later call the Anti-life Virus. The virus spread through the internet and a corrupted Cyborg escaped'
'On 14th February 2025, the world fell'
'Isn't this the DCeased storyline?'
'On 16th February 2025 CADMAS recorded the restart of the Brother Eye program, and a corrupted Cyborg kidnapped several superheroes and and meta humans. The kidnapped beings returned 25 days later, disfigured and sporting several metallic enhancements. They were now under Cyborg's control'
'The records of world history end here', Adrian contemplated, ' the world outside this lab, has gone to shit'
'I should prepare', he planned,'they must have reserves of emergency food and water. They'll also have records of studies in different fields'
'Study, Train, Build and Prepare', he stelled his resolve, 'I'll live a long and prosperous life this time around'
