章節 1310: Chapter 891 Brilliant Stars (36)_1

In the laboratory, Otto was gesturing with the tentacles on his back, "I'm a physicist, I have no association with medicine or biology. If you want to research resurrection technology, I can only start from quantum physics."

"However, first, I'm not an expert in this field. Second, all this material you brought me is useless, I would have to start from scratch, and the realization of the research is calculated in decades..."

"In three days? You must be joking! Physics is a rigorous discipline, just calculating the results takes more than three days. You better find someone else!"

He put down the material in his hand, picked it up again with one hand, Ethan and Dr. Reed were huddled together, Ethan was the first to shake his head, "Although I have a PhD in medicine, reviving a human? That's a bit too advanced."

Dr. Reed frowned and said, "Haven't you noticed? The key is not whether we can research this potion. The key is the raw materials of this potion."

He fondled the papers with information, "Anyone with a bit of intelligence can see that the key to resurrection lies in these so-called Kree, their body tissues have magical effects, which is completely beyond the existing human scientific research system. No point in looking for a scientist…"

The Leader of the agents stepped forward and said, "You mean, this was not researched?"

Dr. Reed sighed and said, "I earn my money by working, I don't mind helping you analyze it…"

"Alright, you guys leave the sample here, let me see if I can analyze the components inside, but don't get your hopes up. If there's really an unknown ingredient found inside, don't expect me to decipher it and remake it within three days. You would only find this with God."

"How long is it going to take?" The leader of the agents was somewhat impatient, "We're under a lot of pressure, we need to speed things up…"

Dr. Reed took the sample, walking to the nearby bench, "Give me two hours, come back for the results after two hours."

After the agents left, he sighed with relief. These past few days, they'd been circling various human scientists, then receiving a look of confusion from the most intelligent humans.

Those with a basic grasp of science should know that developing a potion from scratch doesn't take years, but decades.

Those generals and members of Congress who don't understand specialized knowledge, feel that the materials rescued by these agents are already quite detailed, but in the eyes of scientists, these materials are no different from none at all.

The materials on the Tahiti Project only introduce the concept of the project and the general process of the experiment, without any records of the traits of the raw materials or the performance of the potion.

Politicians and generals find this very useful, as they can judge what the project is about, but for scientists, without any data, isn't that just starting from scratch?

Everyone shook their heads after hearing about the plan, even when the agents used coercion and temptation, these scientists could only say, "You'd probably have to see God for this."

However, they came looking for these scientists, just to avoid seeing God.

About two hours later, Dr. Reed brought the analysis report, he began, "There are two pieces of news, one good, one bad, which would you like to hear first?"

Before the agents could say anything, he began: "The bad news is, we did detect an unknown component inside, which isn't included in the current field of human medicine, we can't even observe its molecular characteristics, this thing, should be what was mentioned in the materials, the body tissues of the Kree."

"However, the good news is that according to our observations, this tissue didn't undergo too much complicated processing and can already achieve the goal of reviving someone who just died."

"Therefore, I deduce that in order to resurrect people who died earlier, a larger dose of the drug may be required. What I mean is the effective ingredient, the dose has to be sufficient. In other words, as long as the effective ingredient dose is sufficient, it should be able to achieve your goal."

The agents looked at each other, unsure if this answer could pass muster, but Dr. Reed shrugged: "The equipment here isn't enough, to completely unlock the secrets, we might have to go to the advanced lab in Stark Tower."

The agents brought the answer back, and the generals and politicians frowned, the general spoke, "So you're saying, as long as we can find these body tissues, we can resurrect these superheroes?"

"That's Dr. Reed's view, however, he also gave another option, that as long as we can enter the advanced lab in Stark Tower, we may have hope of deciphering this component. By then, we may be able to synthesize it artificially."

"We need to advance on all fronts," one of the politicians squinted, "Alien body tissues aren't that easy to find, and we need a sufficient dose. It's best if we can synthesize it artificially, but Jarvis isn't going to be that easy to deal with."

"I recall the materials mentioned a mysterious object called an obelisk and it's related to those aliens called Kree."

The general jumped in, "You guys should find the obelisk and look for the Kree body tissues," he said without waiting for the politician to object, "Stark Tower may not be taken down by a software attack. If weapons are needed, we're more proficient."

The representatives from Congress couldn't object. The military had the advantage in this field, but the vast amount of research inside Stark Tower...

The politician clenched his teeth, starting negotiations with the general. Soon, both sides compromised. One side would attack Stark Tower's defenses, the other would follow the Kree's trail.

Not long after, Stark, who was in Heaven, received a signal from Jarvis on his wrist device.

He frowned, looking at the screen, "What are they doing? Weren't we supposed to do a cyber attack? It seems... seems like they're planning a physical breakthrough???"

Shiller leaned in, but the screen on Stark's wrist was filled with data he didn't understand. Shiller furrowed his brows and asked, "Isn't this thing made by magic? Why is there so much data?"

Stark rolled his eyes and said, "Don't limit science and magic with your narrow-minded views. This is a Magic Energy Phone. You could understand it as magic providing energy, thus it can appear on my hand in a soul state, but it actually follows Stark Industries' logic. Its software system is designed by Jarvis..."

"Okay, stop. Just give me the conclusion." Shiller covered his eyes and said.

"The conclusion is that you told me they'd attempt to hack into Stark Tower Laboratory using network invasion methods, but the information Jarvis relayed back is that they seem to be planning a physical breakthrough..."

Stark looked at the content on the screen and said, "Let me see... Isn't this Ivan, the Russian guy? They actually dared to involve him???"

Shiller leaned in again, noticing that the screen was playing surveillance footage.

The man named Whiplash, who was previously unsuccessful in invading Stark Tower and was taken away by S.H.I.E.L.D., was now squatting at the base of the tower, tinkering with something. Shiller frowned, asking, "Is he planning to blow up your building?"

"From his movements and equipment, it seems to be the case, but Jarvis tells me that his bomb is only a shell."

"It's probably people from Congress who put him up to it, intending to use him to override Stark Tower's defenses. My guess is that he's not very willing, hence he's just putting on a show." Shiller deduced.

Stark shook his head and said, "What are these people thinking? Ivan couldn't break in before I upgraded my technology and equipment, so now that I'm dead, they think he can blast open my tower?"

"And according to what I know about Ivan, even if he wanted to take revenge on me, he would definitely confront me face to face. Intruding Stark Tower after I am dead? That's not like him."

Stark leaned back in his chair, saying, "In some ways, we're very similar. If he died, I might even mourn a bit. It would be a loss for the scientific community."

"Are you sure they can't breach your defenses?" Shiller asked.

Stark shook his head, not giving a direct answer. He just held up the screen saying, "You'll see."

After a while, more familiar faces appeared standing in front of Stark Tower's entrance, downstairs area, near the elevator, and in front of the monitor, including Otto.

Everyone was constantly examining the building, but even as Shiller, who most likely only knew how to screw in light bulbs, could tell, there was something off about their actions.

For some reason, Otto's tentacles were here and there, tapping and hitting things. Either he was lifting bricks, or digging into the wall. He appeared to be busy, like searching for clues, but in fact, he was doing nothing.

From what Shiller knew, he was supposed to be an energy physicist if there was going to be a physical breakthrough, it should start with energy.

But Otto was just standing in Stark Tower's hall, appearing to have suddenly turned into a wall repairer. He alternated between removing and sticking bricks, doing nothing of substance.

Those extremely advanced tentacles did not at all reveal their superiority. They were inefficient at removing the bricks, only managing to remove a few in ten minutes. Otto still would then pretend to examine the structure behind the wall.

Even Ethan, one of Stark's good friends, was making an effort. He was explaining the structure of Stark Tower to the agents, even bringing out the architectural designs, but due to their lack of education, they seemed to be having a hard time understanding him.

Stark's other good friend Rhodes has also been called. Even though he had retired, he still had many military friends, so he forced himself to come out.

He was explaining to people from the military about a mech call device which was probably obsolete a year or two ago. Each of them listened diligently without realizing that this was already an outdated tool.

Natasha, who had previous contact with Stark, was called over. She was currently leaning against the wall, chatting with Anton, and seemed to be quite interested in this robust and handsome compatriot.

In summary, there were dozens of people on the scene, and everyone was slacking off. After an hour of "research", Stark Tower was untouched. From the looks of it, they could continue like this for dozens of hours.

Shiller leaned back in his chair, took a sip of water, and then said, "If I didn't know that I really hadn't arranged all this, I would really think that this was part of a plan."

"I guess everyone realizes that their invasion of Stark Tower isn't for a simple reason. Even after your death, your legacy is still a valuable treasure for the human race and should not be stolen or destroyed by anyone."

Stark lowered his head, turned off the screen, and said softly:

"You have to believe that you're not the only one who wants to protect the future of the human race. You're not fighting alone."

Shiller laughed and said, "That's why I want to protect the future of the human race."

章節 1311: Chapter 892 Glittering Stars (37)_1

Although the military had kept the death of Iron Man and Captain America under wraps, an intense sense of impending crisis still swept across New York. Even ordinary people who were ignorant of the truth felt a certain signal looking at the gloomy New York sky.

Inside the headquarters of the New Warriors Team, Nightingale was sorting out his weapons, whilst Fungi Man stood next to him, frowning, "Are you really planning on going out? Don't forget, those who attacked us are still looking for us."

Fungi Man sighed, "Last time, I was spotted by reporters from the Daily Bugle, just for going out shopping. My photo was wildly circulated, and my true identity was revealed. My family, friends and teachers all called me with questions, but I couldn't answer them..."

With a look of anguish, Fungi Man closed his eyes, "I've been having nightmares these last few days, I'm sure you have too. If you go out now, things may not only not get better, we might come under more attacks..."

However, Nightingale was busy wiping his arrows, "But we must strike. Don't forget why the New Warriors Team was established in the first place. We're not here to perform in TV shows, we're not actors!"

"Now, with Spider Man dead, Captain America missing, and Iron Man not in New York, the absence of these three superheroes has shattered many people's confidence. They believe they cannot handle the super villains."

"We can't rely on the police. The New York Police Department is made of ordinary people. Even if they possess some firepower, how could they handle super villains like Nitro and Cold Heart? It's not their job. They don't have the abilities, hence they have no responsibility."

Nightingale looked at Fungi Man, "But we do. So, we must act."

"If there's anything I've learned from past events, it's that no matter what the rumours say, we shouldn't let them hold us back."

"What if we hadn't shivered in fear in the base and had continued doing good to clarify things, or just honed our skills? Maybe Captain America wouldn't have died."

Fungi Man's gripping fists trembled, he stuttered, "He always appears in my dreams. I clearly remember the last thing he mouthed before he died was for us to get away. I really..."

Fungi Man started to shake all over, while Nightingale glanced at the rest of the team who were still playing cards inside the base, "The team I've put so much effort into building, maybe it's time for us to break up."

"This period has finally made me realize, this isn't a game, it's a life-and-death struggle."

"What we've seen in those videos of Spider Man easily defeating villains, behind his antics and wisecracks, lies an unimaginable determination."

"Therefore, we must act." Nightingale gripped his bow tightly, "Take on their responsibilities, fulfill their unaccomplished duties, battle against those evil forces hiding in the dark that ordinary people can't handle, until every last drop of our blood is shed."

Fungi Man swallowed and said, "Regardless, I will stay. I hope I can live up to the name of 'New Warriors' and justify Captain America's actions of sacrificing his life for us."

Nightingale glanced at the computer screen beside him, "Recently, there have been frequent disappearances in New York. I don't think it's a coincidence. I've traced the trails of some peculiar creatures. I suspect they're vampires."

"Vampires?" Fungi Man wrinkled his brow and said, "After the battle on the Brooklyn Bridge, weren't they wiped out? ...Wait a second, it seems a group of vampires escaped, but they haven't been seen for a while...why would they suddenly..."

"Do you think the deaths of Spider Man and Captain America were accidents?" Nightingale asked Fungi Man, who then fell silent, some words left unsaid.

Nightingale continued, "One crisis after another, key figures dying one after another, evil organizations that were already on their decline re-emerging, could all these incidents really be a coincidence?"

"Or could some lurking force just waiting for the right moment have finally made its move?" Nightingale took a deep breath, grabbed his compound bow on the table, "Get ready. Perhaps, another great battle is about to begin."

With his voice still echoing, the chill wind at night swept across every corner of every street in New York, and a shrill scream like a sharp sword crossed the sky and pierced into the cloud layer, under the extraordinarily bright moonlight.

People found that the stars in the sky started twinkling. Perhaps it was not the stars fading and brightening, but some flying creatures blocking the starlight.

Their dark wings and sharp fangs made everyone who saw them scream in fright.

"Vampires! They're vampires!!"

"The bats are back! Quick! Call the police!!"

"Vampires have reappeared in large numbers near New York! They intend to attack the city again!!"

"A name's being circulated amongst them, I heard it, I heard...it's...Dracula! The progenitor of vampires, Dracula!!!"

At the New York Police Department, George grabbed his pistol and as he stepped outside said, "Everyone get ready, those damn bats are back!"
