章節 43: Minotaurs
Ferocious roars suddenly turned into painful screams. The monsters squeals like it was torn apart in half, followed by dying breaths.
The movements of Alex were fast especially if he turned in a flash. He had moved onto the next target before the sound of crashing impact rang out.
Despite being surrounded by more than ten or hundreds at once, Alex dealt with them like he was used to this kind of encounters as he calmly and swiftly exterminated the monsters.
"GAH__!"
An al-miraj was struck in the chest when it was too slow to respond in his advance. Using Flying Raijin, Alex sliced another in half with one of his blades, continuing his momentum, 50 beasts fell in an instant.
The monsters formation was pointless. They weren't fast enough to react and protect themselves to the flashes that swiftly eliminated them out.
"S-so fast!"
"To take on so many of them alone like that."
"W-whoa...!"
Bell, Welf and Lilly watched the battle unfold to them with bewildered eyes. They might had different ways of expressing it, but all of them were shocked by the dominant display of strength and skills shown by Alex.
He was eliminating monsters in his own way before anyone else had the chance to react. Even though he was just a level 2, the battle prowess he had was comparable to a level 3. They now know why he was given the alias "Crimson Flash".
"That should be the last one in that wave."
Alex muttered with heavy breathing as the two hellhounds were pierced with different blades vanished into dust. They were at the end of the tunnel at the sixteenth floor. Bell and the others had been advancing in the hopes of finding another hole leading to a lower floor.
The air was heavy, their breathing was hot. Even though Alex was dealing with the monsters that spawns near them, the pressure was immeasurable.
Among them, only Bell and Alex was in the condition to fight. While Alex was dealing with the monsters that spawns in a great number, Bell defended against the monsters that managed to pass through Alex.
Even Alex had a serious expression. He and the others could clearly feel, the bloodthirsty aura everywhere. His alertness was heightened to the extreme. Welf, Lilly, had Bell had never experienced this kind of intensity.
Their ears was so focused on every little sound. Welf and Lilly who was still at level 1 was already far beyond their limit. They had to clinch their teeth to keep themselves from passing out.
All their eyes were focused farther than the tunnel. They knew something lurked in the darkness. Aside from Alex, every heartbeat sent a shiver down in their spines, palm clammy with sweat.
Whatever was shrouded in the darkness had an aura that its very presence was torture to Welf and Lilly.
'This ain't happening! Seriously, what the hell?'
Welf's mind had reached its breaking point. Even though Alex and Bell could defend, both of them were already tired. Alex might be in a better condition than them but before he came into rescue, he had already been fighting with thousands of monsters which had depleted his stamina.
'Don't know, I don't know! Who the hell survives long enough to be this unlucky?'
Lilly's thoughts were stuck in a loop. The thought of anyone capable of killing monsters without touching them came to her mind.
The ground shook as new sound emerged from the black void. Alarms were erupting in their heads. A greatsword appeared in Welf's hand and grabbed the hilt of the sword as if it was his last line of defense.
Alex looked at them who's minds were filled with fear however, he can't blame them. As his senses were more sensitive than theirs, he could sense better than them that the dungeon wants them dead.
It was like it was pissed off at them as they still had survived at this point even though it had sent them monsters after monster. Just like now, it had finally sent a monster that had magnificent horns in the head, sticking out like beacons of death. The head on the bull on the body of a man with its burgeoning muscles.
It held a stone battle axe, yet another natural weapon. It's eyes were looking down either side of the blade and its prey.
"UWWOOOHHHHHHHHH!!"
A devastating howl. It was intimidating enough to bind any living thing's mind and body with fear. Taking the full brunt of the level 2 Minotaur's howl, level 1 Welf and Lilly was completely defenseless paralyzed in fear.
Alex could feel its overwhelming presense in his first encounter. What's worse was that the minotaur wasn't alone at all. There were at least 20 of them in their view.
Seeing it's opportunity, the Minotaurs struck the ground with a mighty hoof and jumped towards them, its massive battle axe above its head.
"Bell I'll deal with the other half. I haven't encountered a minotaur before but I'll try it."
"Thank you."
Bell said his gratitude as the two of them rushed to the minotaurs. The white haired boy powered through the Minotaur's holw head on.
"Krausel, be sure to protect them!"
Alex yelled to his partner which made the Celestial Cat to transform into its Celestial Earth Cat form ready to form a wall made of earth pillar to defend against the minotaurs.
"Wait a moment Alex!"
Hearing Welf's voice, he turned back and saw Welf threw a greatsword to him. Trying to catch it, the moment he held the sword, the greatsword fell to the ground with a loud bang along with Alex.
[Conditions are not met to be equipped.]
"Eh?"
Lying to the ground, Alex was puzzled. Welf and Lilly was the same. Only Bell who was fighting against the minotaurs didn't noticed as the latter was so focused with them. The greatsword was around 3 meters and 20 centimeters in length. Its appearance was overwhelming. The blade was black and expressed elegance and strength at the same time. While the silver handle wasn't much to boast of, it made a subtle and elegant combination of black and silver.

Reading the description, Alex yelled.
"Damn, I can't equip it. Besides its so heavy!"
Welf's eyes opened as wide as they would go, but before his shaking throat could make a sound, Alex had already turned into a flash leaving the greatsword stabbed into the ground.

Seeing that his master was about to face a horde that was stronger than the other monsters they had faced, Krausel took the initiative to help his master and the white haired boy who was facing the Minotaurs.
Countless numbers of line crisscrossed the Minotaur's entire body. The Minotaur bleed as white haired boy unleased his fury. He was holding both of his blades backhand as he tore the creature. It couldn't even cry out in pain under the onslaught.
Lilly and Welf knew one thing as they watched the carnage unfolded in their eyes. Bell had snapped. He charged to a powerful enemy without hesitation. Faster than anything they had ever seen him.
On the other side, Alex utilized his superior speed to outmaneuver the Minotaurs as he delivered powerful slashes, strikes and pierces. The minotaurs were not only strong individually, they also tended to herd together which gave Alex and Bell a hard time and push their best.
They were already quite tired from the previous battles however the two of them were not backing down.
"Grand Fireball!"
A massive orb of fire exploded at the minotaurs which made them howl in pain. As Alex were fighting side by side with Bell, all of the minotaurs were swept by the fireball but they were still alive and fortunately, the attack's impact caused some minotaur to let go of their weapons.
Welf and Lilly were awestruck at the combination of the two record holders. Bell picked up the battle axe that had fallen to the ground and tooked a defensive stance.
Suddenly, the tunnel was filled with a soft ringing sound like a chim, as little white sparks surrounded Bell's hands.
"That..."
Welf had seen those sparkles before. Those memories suddenly came flowing back to him at the same time the minotaurs charged forward at once.
"First form, Ruptured Evening Cleave."
Alex intercepted the minotaurs that was rushing towards Bell. The sharp blade of the Splitting Edge surrounded by fiery fire slashed a deep wound on the minotaur's chest, causing blood to gush out. Countless wounds spread across the minotaur's body.
And then, the surrounding was inundated with a bright light. It was absolutely blinding. Light seemed to and from the axe as Bell swung the axe to the beasts.
With the collision, the axe vaporized followed by a thunderous boom. Explosion took a pieces of a tunnel. Even Alex was swept away as he was caught up in it was he was still fine.
Cracks covered the walls, had torn through the tunnel, floor burned and singed. The path in front of them was littered with smoldering pieces of rocks. The minotaurs were now gone.
