When Veronica got off the carriage she quickly ran inside the inn. On the way the storm and raining had picked up. Just in that few seconds her whole dress and hair had gotten soaked.
The inn was pretty empty since the morning rush had already ended, but there were still quite a few people eating and drinking.
She looked really annoyed as she stepped inside. Many patrons looked at her and most even took a double take. Some groups giggled between themselves, others just shook their heads in pity.
Veronica didn't care about any of them. Her eyes were only on James who found her state really funny, but he quickly shut up after seeing the murder in her eyes.
After leaving the place for her room, she did hear his laughter echo through the whole building, it even brought a small smile to Veronica's face.
Quickly she dried herself and changed to her working dress. She then proceeded to spend the whole day working, since this was supposed to be her actual job.
Luckily the people weren't really in the mood to visit the Miles Inn, but all the rooms were currently rented out and that meant a lot of customers right within the house.
Still the work was pretty easy, she even had time to read some more books of her new favorite author. Veronica had no idea who this J. Y. Simmons was, but he was an amazing writer.
This was probably the fifth book she was reading from him. She already gave the first one back to Father Martin and they spent hours discussing every part of it, but it didn't stop there.
After that they always read the same books, then when they both finished, they would hold a bit of a book club between themselves. Even Suze became interested after Veronica told her about it, but she had to wait until the next sunday for it.
On this week because of her whole ascension, both Father Martin and Veronica decided to place their get together on the next week.
The current book she had to read was titled 'Sinful Heart'. Every time Veronica read it a shiver went down her spine. The title was horribly cheesy, she was tempted a few times to read a different book, but sadly it was actually really good.
The story followed a woman, who falls in love with a serial killer. She of course has no idea about it. The book is a strange combination of comedy and tragedy, as the killer tries to hide his real identity and hobby, while the woman eventually finds out but doesn't care since she has an even bigger secret.
That was exactly what kept Veronica's attention. The woman was an actual ascended, from the Sinner Path to be exact.
After reading most of the book Veronica realized something very important about this J. Y. Simmons. He was definitely an ascended, or someone who knew a lot about the supernatural world.
The book explains the Sinner path nearly as perfectly as that scary book of mysticism.
She read the book with a bright smile already waiting to talk about this in the next book club.
Eventually her fun time was over and she had to go work some more. She spent the whole day in this perpetual loop of working and reading, but soon she remembered something really important which she had ignored up until now.
'I should really visit that Theater again at some point... There are so many things I want to divine, but my room is way too small for the ritual dance... Also, that Theater seems really mysterious. I wonder what else can it do...'
With these thoughts she continued working and after she ate dinner with the Miles Family, she went to her room, closed the door, and sat down on her bed.
"Okay... How do I actually do this? Every time, I had gotten there by accident, how do I do it on purpose?!"
She tried to think of a way for a while, but eventually she just closed her eyes and went with what her heart suggested.
She remembered the time when she imagined the key and keyhole for the main doors of the Theater. What she was doing now was very similar, but on the scale of the giant Theater.
In her mind the large building appeared in all its crooked beauty. She remembered the exact colors, door and window placements, she could only guess the angle which the building was leaning on, but she tried her best.
Slowly Veronica opened her eyes and was instantly disappointed. She was still in her own room, no sight of the magical building.
With a sigh she closed her eyes and tried again. It took her about a dozen more attempts before she finally managed to reach the street at the Theater, but at that moment another problem arose.
Since she was starting to get annoyed with herself, she only imagined a vague copy of the Theater. Veronica had no idea it would be necessary to think of the Theater with exact detail.
The building in front of her was like a Picasso painting. Everything was in disarray.
The color was a blend of pinks, oranges and rainbows. The windows were asymmetrical and leaning in two different directions. The double doors were on their sides and on the upper half on the building.
These changes wouldn't have been bad, but what gave Veronica a sense of awe and utter confusion was the whole structure itself. The whole building was somehow balanced on one of its shorter edges!
It took one look for Veronica to realize two things. First she had no way of entering like this. Second there was an actual meaning behind the second part of the Theater of Imagination. She literally had to imagine the building, so it would appear in the way she thought it out.
With a large tired sigh Veronica left the nonexistent street and tried again... and again... and again...
It took nearly an hour, but eventually she managed to make the Theater enterable. It still looked quite bad and weird, but at least the doors were on the bottom of the building.
With a small satisfactory smile she entered the long corridor. It seemed like she could only imagine the outside of the Theater yet, since the inside looked hundred percent the same.
She stopped at the beginning of the corridor and closed her eyes. In the next moment she was already inside the viewing area. This was a trick she wanted to try out and it seemed that the whole imagining exercise made this strange technique really easy.
She closed her eyes again and in the next moment she was on the brightly lit stage again.
From somewhere music started to play again, this time it was slower and more majestic. In her mind dozens of different dances appeared which were perfect for this music's rhythm.
She ignored all and instead began the divination dance... or at least she was about to. Before her legs could move, she had to think of a question to ask.
"What do I actually want to know?... Hmm, I want to know where this place came from, or what its purpose is... Also what can it do?"
The Theater was a huge mystery which she really wanted to find answers to, but there were more pressing matters in her mind. The first was about the author that knew her somehow, the other is about those two words, which she couldn't remember.
Eventually she began to do the ritual dance, her fist question, "Who is the author of that book?"
She repeated this sentence a few times. It took about ten minutes of constant dancing for it to actually work. It seemed like this secret was really hard to get an answer to!
In her mind a mouth appeared. It was a close up of some woman's lips, they were covered in light pink lipstick and the individual was young judging by her skin. She was also white, but with a tiny amount of tan.
After a moment the woman spoke in a voice that was both unfamiliar and well known to Veronica.
"Not yet little one! You have to grow up first!" Suddenly a small smile spread on the woman's face and the whole vision broke into pieces.
She woke up with a gasp. Her whole body was lying in the middle of the spotlight, which was currently blinding her.
Veronica sat up and with an annoyed expression walked out of the blinding lights.
"Well, that didn't tell me much... At least I know that the person that left the messages is in fact a woman... *sigh* Better than nothing..."
After taking a break of a few minutes, she began the ritual dance again. This time she was asking a different question, "What were those two words and what do they mean?"
As she said it multiple times her heart started to scream at her to stop. It wasn't painful, only a bit alarming. For some reason she felt a bit rebellious, it was very much unlike her, but she ignored the suggestions of her heart.
She didn't even notice the strangeness within herself and just continued to dance. It only took her a few minutes this time, but when she was about to get a vision something weird happened.
Her eyes snapped open and she woke up in her room, in the inn. Looking around confused, she had no idea what happened.
When her mind was finally fully functional again, she noticed who dumb she was and how big of a mistake she could've committed.
There was literally one thing the writer of the book asked of her... Listen to your heart!
After a thorough examination she realized that her emotions weren't as they were supposed to be. She felt like going against suggestions, doing things others told her not to... She felt like a rebel... or a protester...
