Rune wanted to go after Iva, but he didn't want to make her uncomfortable, so he just took a step back and decided to wait. In the meantime, he turned to look at Kael, who was walking away.
"What do you say, brother? Let's protect Iva for Mother and Father," Rune suggested, his eyes filled with hope; hope that his family would reunite again and things would be perfect once more.
Jacquelyn stood there with Layla. She felt out of place. Her neck creaked to the side to see what Kael was doing and why he wasn't saying anything, and when she turned, he was staring at her.
"Taking your hand means losing what I cherish the most," Kael replied, his lips tugged. "But if you take mine...you will have a home to return to, Rune."
Rune exhaled. "Kael, this isn't our home...have you forgotten Mother's—"
