章節 11: Busted
Eithan was the reason Elysia was not frightened to come to the Hunter mansion, therefore she had anticipated seeing him there. However, when she discovered he was not there and that he had long since left his home, she felt really uncomfortable.
"What do you want to do right now, Madam?" When a maid inquired while Elysia was still deep in thought, she merely responded that she wanted to explore the mansion and take a tour.
It was not as if she could do anything else there right now.
The maid complied with her order and chose to give her a brief tour because there weren't many areas of the mansion where people might come and go as they pleased.
The mansion was breathtakingly gorgeous; she had never in her life imagined being able to visit such a place.
Since Elysia was an interior designer, she appreciated the colour scheme and the way the halls were furnished. In her opinion, everything was exquisite. The walls were decorated with priceless artworks from all over the world.
Her eyes shone the more she looked.
She wandered around and walked to the huge front balcony, telling herself that this place was like a maze with difficult entrances and exits. It was green everywhere she looked out from the balcony, and it was a stunning sight to behold. Her gaze landed on the many kinds of flowers next to the foliage, which seemed out of character for this mansion.
She had not seen any roses all over the mansion, not even in the vases, but that particular corner had one.
"These roses," she mumbled, to which the maid informed her that Eithan had planted them. His mother had been taking care of them since the moment he left the Hunter mansion and even the city.
"Oh!" She spoke quietly before pulling out her phone to check something. There was not a single text from Eithan, let alone a call.
This person was cruel. How could he ignore me like this? She thought to herself and dialed Eithan's number, but he did not even pick up.
She knew; he must have been shocked and might not have wanted her to marry his brother, but what choice did she have at that moment? Could he just not try to understand her circumstances for once?
She tried a few more times, but when he did not return her calls, she became upset and decided not to have a tour any longer. She told the maid that she wished to be alone and walked away.
Elysia had so much on her mind that she did not realise she had walked for so long that she had lost her path!
'Where am I?' She thought and looked around to find that no maid was behind her since she had not let them come with her.
"Hello! Hello! Is there anyone around?" Elysia loudly asked and moved forward. Where did she has come? She continued to walk and turn left after the corridor ended when she hit someone. She stumbled and almost fell but then she felt an arm around her waist.
She pushed this unknown man away when he asked her what she was doing there.
"I was lost," Elysia replied. "But who are you?" She looked at him with inquisitiveness.
"I am your brother-in-law, Joseph Hunter, cousin of Trustin." The man introduced himself and forwarded his hand for a handshake.
Elysia slowly forwarded her hand and shook hands with him. "Sorry for the earlier and thank you. I am Elysia Trivino…" she paused as she realized she was married to Trustin, "Hunter," and completed her whole name. She lowered her hand while Joseph slid his hand into his trousers pocket.
"So, what we're doing here?" Joseph asked.
"I lost my way to the room," Elysia answered.
Joseph looked at her in amusement—how could anyone lose their way? This mansion was less complex than the castle of the pack. "Is that so?" He smiled and led her to the tennis court, where he had been earlier. When he had heard her voice, then only he came out to take a look and found her.
Elysia hummed and said nothing. She only wanted to return, but the person in front of her appeared gentler and reminded her of Eithan, so she accepted his invitation to the tennis court. She thought it was incredible that one mansion had literally everything.
"So, how did you get lost? Is there no maid with you to guide you?" Joseph inquired gently and handed her a water bottle.
She promptly accepted it because she desperately needed the water. She informed him that it was her first day at the mansion, and it seemed strange to go around those women with their heads bowed, and they did not even want to talk to her; she was simply bored in their presence.
Joseph couldn't help but let out a low chuckle at the way she complained to him and remarked, "Well, they are not allowed to talk to their masters unless absolutely necessary."
"If you are bored then why not call Trustin and spend some time with your husband? I heard he adores you a lot." He then suggested to her.
Husband and adoration? She couldn't help but roll her eyes when she heard these comments and told him about her unfortunate wedding!
"What adoration is here? Trustin simply wanted to get married on that day and I was just in the wrong place, otherwise, I had decided to stay single for the rest of my life, but this man disrupted all my plans." Elysia ended up blurting out everything to Joseph. Everyone knew the truth about her marriage.
Just like Joseph had predicted! He sensed there was something wrong with the bride's rapid shift and the story of falling in love. Especially from Trustin, he couldn't believe it!
"So, you both do not love each other?" Joseph asked her.
Elysia shook her head. "I never met him until a day before my marriage. Did he not tell you?" she asked in bewilderment. She did not notice the tennis ball a step away from her foot.
As soon as her foot landed above the tennis ball, she slipped and let out a cry. However, at the right time, Joseph held her firmly thus preventing her from falling. She peered into his eyes and thanked him before standing straight.
Suddenly, a wicked grin appeared on Joseph's face when he sensed Trustin was there. As Joseph turned to face him, who had strode in their direction with a countenance full of rage as if he was about to burst.
After all, the bubble he had created had simply burst in an instant!
