章節 26: Si Jingyun's claim
"Then why did you?" Bai Liyue asked.
Song Ning was dumbfounded. She did not know how to answer that question. What should she answer? It wasn't like she could tell this fool that she was Si Jingyun's lover. If you call his lover, his sister then anyone would easily get offended. Anyways, the deed was done. Now, she had to say something to repair the damage done.
"A-actually... I didn't mean to shout at you. It was just, that, umm... I don't like anyone to call me anybody's sister. It makes me sound old," Song Ning explained.
"How?" Bai Liyue inquired, pretending to be genuinely confused. "You will feel old if you consider yourself old. Do you think you are old?"
Song Ning: "........" (This hateful woman!!!! Was she calling her an old woman indirectly?)
Hearing Chen Ziyue's words, Song Ning began to wonder whether this woman had really forgotten her memory or was all of this was just a mere act. Otherwise, how could this woman's tongue be as sharp as before? A small suspicion arose in her heart which she decided to find out later from the doctors.
Si Jingyun was quick to notice the wrong atmosphere inside the room. He looked at both the woman, one with innocent pair of eyes and the other with a hateful pair of eyes, and couldn't help but feel tired. He knew that it wasn't right to call a woman 'old', no matter her age. He was also aware that Song Ning who loved beautiful things would definitely hate being called old.
He didn't want her to open her mouth again and say things that would hurt Chen Ziyue and make her doubtful. He was here to create a good impression on Chen Ziyue. And, with the current situation, it was unlikely to be. Hence, he quickly stepped inside the situation to take control of it before it could get worse. "Ziyue, it's not good to call people 'old'," he reminded her softly. "That's not classy behavior."
Bai Liyue nodded. "Oh yes, you are right. I shouldn't call people old in front of their face."
Song Ning: "......." (You wild, hateful woman!!! Are you saying it is okay to call me old behind my back?)
Chen Ziyue: "......." (That's not what I meant.)
Bai Liyue couldn't help but smile when she noticed that constipated smile and suppressed anger. They looked at her as if they wanted to beat her but they couldn't. Now, as she was observing them, she really doubted that her fiance wasn't a gentleman as everyone deemed him to be and her so-called best friend hated her as if she had stolen something very precious to her.
Moreover, she could see that Song Ning liked her fiance. It was written all over that woman's face. No matter how much she tried to control herself or her expression, she couldn't hide it well from Bai Liyue's sharp eyes. From the moment, these two entered her room, Song Ning's eyes would often fall on her so-called fiance.
Now, whether her so-called perfect fiance loved this woman or not was something she needed to find out.
"Ziyue, your humor is still the same as before," Song Ning bit her lips and began after getting a look from Si Jingyun. She knew that she couldn't yell or scream at Chen Ziyue. She needed to overlook her words and try to make a good impression.
"Oh, you mean, even before my memory loss, I was calling you an old woman," Bai Liyue said with a smile. Hearing that, Song Ning's face darkened. However, before she could get the chance to lose control, she heard a small chuckle.
"Don't get angry," Bai Liyue winked at her. "I was just kidding."
Song Ning: "........." (Ah!!!! This hate wild woman!!!! She is definitely doing it on purpose.)
"Anyways, who are you?" Bai Liyue inquired.
"I am Song Ning, your best friend." Song Ning smiled gently. "Before your incident, we used to do everything together. You used to share all your secrets with you."
"Really? But, Yuan Li didn't say anything about you."
"Yuan Li?" Song Ning frowned and then shrugged her shoulders slightly. "She is just your manager. What does she know? Ziyue, as a person, you were quite secretive. You didn't have a lot of friends and you didn't like to talk to everyone about what was going on in your life. But, since we were close, I do know a lot of things about you."
"That's good." Bai Liyue nodded. "So, tell me, Song Ning. Was I really having an affair with that businessman?"
"Huh?" Song Ning was taken aback. She did expect Chen Ziyue to ask her several questions about her life, her work, her personality, her hobbies, or any other stuff. But, she did not expect her to ask about this incident. Infact, she didn't even think that Chen Ziyue knew about this incident. "Ziyue, you -"
"No!" Si Jingyun interrupted them. He grabbed Bai Liyue's hand and caressed the back of her palm. "Ziyue, you did not have an affair with that ugly businessman. Those are all lies."
Bai Liyue narrowed her eyes and glanced at her fiance. "But the news, the media, those articles, they all say that -"
"Don't believe what the news and the media say," he told her. "Ziyue, I know you don't remember anything. But, trust me. I know you. You are not the kind of woman that the media portrays you to be. You are a good woman and I believe you, not those articles. Anyways, I know all those are fake. Someone is trying to ruin your reputation but trust me, I will help you to find the culprit. Soon, your reputation will be clean and white as before."
"Thanks, Si Jingyun."
"Anything for my beautiful fiance," he smiled at her gently.
Song Ning looked at the man she loved and the woman she hated, holding hands and gazing into each other's eyes. Though she knew that Si Jingyun was acting and he did not love Chen Ziyue, she couldn't help but herself. Her anger was increasing with each second. Her mind spun, and jealousy tore at her whole being.
Why?
Why didn't this woman die even after falling from that terrace?
