Coming over a rise, Barry spotted the familiar blue of Jimmy’s shirt. The color thing did have its uses.

“Muddy and sweaty cowboy, my favorite kind,” Barry said as he approached Jimmy from behind.

Given the amount of mud splashes the man was sporting, Barry resisted the urge to give Jimmy a hug.

Jimmy turned around, a broad smile on his handsome face, and Barry forgot all about not hugging him.

“I’m dirty,” Jimmy protested, though not very strongly when Barry kissed him.

“We’ll both wash clean,” Barry said, wiping a smear of mud from the man’s cheek.

“So, what brings you out here? Not that I’m complaining. This is boring work.” Jimmy nodded down at the pipes and other equipment at his feet.

“Was just trying out a new recipe for American biscuits so needed an American’s opinion.” He reached into his shoulder bag and handed over a brown paper bag.
