章節 15: Strange phenomenon
Tommy followed the location of the dart only to see the creature that attacked him, creature was taller than a lamppost and moved crouched and close to the ground. Its pasty skin looked smeared over its massive muscles. Its body appeared to be covered in cactus-like needles. It had 2 arms one shriveled and one huge. Its back was covered in fin-like spikes. Its face was too big for its head. Its mouth was bursting with teeth. Its eyes were 8 blood dripping burgundy stocks.
"What the heck is that" Tommy shouted, Never in his life had he seen anything as ugly as the creature before him, 'Are all demons like this' he thought as he got a grip on his situation, he knew he would have to fight his way out of his present situation, at least that was how he motivate himself.
He could just run away, he doubted the demon would be able to keep up with him, and he could also use the demon as a target practice, from the amount of dark smoke the demon was emitting Tommy didn't feel his life was in danger, it wasn't as thick and scary as the SACU woman.
Tommy had decided to grade demons by the amount of dark smoke they could produce, and if they couldn't make his skin crawl as the SACU woman's dark smoke did, he would consider them not strong enough to threaten his life.
He brought out 4 cards socked with his dark smoke, It was a good thing he was far away from the demon, he threw the first card but it missed the demon.
The demon didn't just stand there immediately after it dodged Tommy's card The demon shot out multiple fin-like spikes, each spike was 9 inches long, Seeing the spikes coming towards him Tommy rolled to the side missing all the spikes.
"Shit, that was close," he said as he jumped up and threw two cards at the demon, the cards were faster than the previous one since Tommy decided to use all his strength, he didn't know why he held back before.
The cards pierced the demon's left arm but the cards didn't do much damage, they stocked to the demon, Tommy didn't notice the dark smoke left on the card sipping into the demon's body.
The demon shot multiple fin-like spikes nonstop, it was like the demon had an infinite amount of spikes, Tommy panicked, he had no means to defend against the spike attack, he raised his hand to defend himself subconsciously he poured all the dark smoke left in his body into his hand, the dark smoke created a dark shield, with blocked some of spikes.
Although he couldn't block all as some spikes went through his shoulder, blood gushed out from Tommy's wounds, immediately The demon's nose got a little scent of Tommy's blood, It stiffed fear creeping into its mind, The demon had no idea why it body was behaving this way.
But the few seconds gave Tommy enough time to throw his cards, this time his aim was a little bit better as one of the cards cut through the demon's left arm.
The demon screamed in pain, and the fear in its mind disappeared only to be replaced by anger, the cactus-like needles all over its body began to move to the demon's hand forming a long spear.
"Shit" Tommy exclaimed as the demon dashed towards him with the spear aiming to pierce Tommy's head, he used the dark shield to deflect the spear.
*Cling*
Tommy was pushed back for to the force of impact, but the demon continued to attack without slowing down, Tommy kept blocking, he knew his life depended on it, his hands were beginning to feel numb, and he realized that he had made a grave mistake thinking the demon wouldn't be a threat.
He realized that using the SACU woman as a reference to other demons was flawed, even if the demon didn't have the same amount of dark smoke as the woman it didn't mean the demon was weak.
He also realized that he was too rash in his decision to fight the demon, he had no combat experience or training and his only weapon was a deck of cards and a shield which he made from his dark smoke.
Tommy suddenly had an idea while blocking the spear attacks, It was a good thing the demon was not a trained fighter, 'If I could make a shield from this dark smoke, what stopping me from making a sword' he thought as he tried to move some of his dark smoke to his free hand, he had been using his two hand to hold the shield.
As he moved some of his dark smoke to his free right hand reducing the density of his shield, the more the demon spear hit the shield the more dents appeared, Tommy was trying to create a sword from his dark smoke but it was easier said than done.
He could feel the dark smoke trying to follow his instructions but something was blocking him from creating the sword, his mind was focusing on two things at the same time, trying to maintain the shield and also trying to create a sword Because of that his control over the shield weakened.
The demon's spear broke through the shield piercing Tommy's forearm, Again the smell of Tommy's blood made the demon freeze for a few seconds but that gave Tommy enough time to realize why he was unable to create the sword.
His dark smoke was not enough to create two constructs at the same time, he had been using a lot of dark smoke since he got here, but as the shield broke all the remaining dark smoke poured itself into creating the sword.
Although Tommy was in extreme pain he couldn't let that slow him down and seeing as the demon was just standing doing nothing, Tommy slashed at the demon's head, decapitating the demon's head in one clean cut.
The demon's head rolled off to the side and the rest of its body evaporated into dark smoke before entering into Tommy's body, Although Tommy was still alive, he was extremely exhausted from using too much dark smoke, and he passed out afterward.

Inside a penthouse, four men sat opposite each other without saying a single word, They were looking at an Energy scanner, it wasn't just a regular energy scanner, this one was powerful enough to scan the whole city.
The men were waiting patiently for something, for how long they had been waiting no one knew but after a few minutes the energy scanner went awire, the energy reading was out of the chart.
"Brothers, as you can see, something strange has been going on in this city for a while, Like I said this energy reading isn't the first one I have noticed, that's why I called you all here to see for yourself," One of the men said, he was the only one without a mask on his face, the man had a little bit of gold and yellowish shade skin color, his long black hair reached his shoulder, he looked t be in his 30s, from his look, one would know he was an Indian man.
"So what do you want from us" a man in an Oni mask said.
"I know we are not the only ones to notice this strange phenomenon, the SACU, and other Contractors would have taken note, so I say while they are all busy dealing with this phenomenon, we finally make our move," the Indian man said.
