Asher drove the Impala on the lonely road to New Jersey. He kept to himself most of the time but other times he watched Pepper.

She was playing with her thumb and she had an apprehensive look about her. Asher longed to take away that feeling of uncertainty she was currently experiencing but he highly doubted she would let him.

Last night, they went back home where she conveniently elected to sleep in the guest room.

He didn't like it but he didn't push it either, he just accepted it in good faith. And now, he was driving her to New Jersey to meet Gigi and Gramps for the 'second' first time in her life.

"There is no need to be nervous" he told her and placed his free palm on her hand.

"I am not nervous" she stated as a matter of fact and took her hand away.
