School, how I hate it.
An institution created to teach right from wrong and guide future members of society.
A place made for personal and interpersonal development, for building relationships and discovering talents.
All of this is true, but... how can anyone be happy on the first day of school?
"Are you excited too, Ike? We can finally go to school and make friends!" Ichigo asked enthusiastically as we headed to school, accompanied by our mother and little sisters.
Poor foolish Ichigo, you have no idea how much I dread having to repeat this same vocational process once again.
"No, Ichigo. How could I be happy going to school? Only people who bully others are happy about going to school." I said in a discouraged tone.
My mother, who was with us, got irritated and nudged me with a flick on the head.
"Ouch! Mom!"
"Is that any way to talk to your brother? Besides, where did you get such a pessimistic view of school?" My mother scolded me with a frown on her face.
"I just know, okay? And what I said is true. I would much rather stay home and take care of my little sisters." I replied as I approached the stroller where my sisters were.
Yuzu and Karin, my adorable little sisters, since they were born, my greatest joy has been helping my mother take care of them. Ichigo enjoyed this too.
My mother, still a bit irritated, responded, "Regardless, just like your brother, you will go to school and look out for each other and make many friends. Especially you, Ichisuke, who unlike Ichigo, has a little friend to play with, so you better make friends!" She finished by giving me an authoritative look.
I could only breathe and nod my head.
'Mom can be a bit scary sometimes,' I thought as I was still stared at by her.
…
"Good morning, class. Before we begin, I would like to introduce two new students who will be with us for the rest of the school year," said the glasses-wearing teacher.
Seeing that everyone in the room was behaving, she said, "Come on, you can enter."
All the attention in the classroom turned to the new classmates standing behind the door.
The first to enter was a boy with strange spiky orange hair, sporting a bright smile on his face.
Following behind him, unlike the boy with the strange orange hair, was a boy with medium-length wavy black hair. He had a downcast expression as if he didn't want to be there.
Some students began to whisper to each other, some commenting on how one boy's hair had a strange color and how the other looked like a dead fish.
The teacher, noticing that the conversations were turning negative, quickly silenced them.
"Okay, class. Now let him introduce himself." She concluded, gesturing for one of the two to step forward.
The first boy was a bit shy about introducing himself after hearing some laughter about his hair.
The second boy, seeing this, quickly introduced himself to encourage the first.
Stepping forward, he said, "Hello, my name is Ichisuke Kurosaki. My family calls me Ike, and I like blonde girls. I hope to get along with everyone." He introduced himself from start to finish with his head down.
His introduction drew some laughs from the students and the teacher.
With newfound courage, the first boy introduced himself. "Hello, my name is Ichigo Kurosaki. I hope to make lots of friends!" His introduction was short but cheerful.
After they finished introducing themselves, the teacher asked them to choose a seat.
For some reason, Ichigo felt drawn to the seat at the back of the room by the window and quickly took it.
Ichisuke, unconcerned, sat in the last seat of the first row. Sitting there, he lowered his head, resting on his arms.
Ichisuke didn't mind the glances from some students, but none of them caught his attention except for one.
'So he's like me?' thought a person sitting next to Ichisuke.
…
"We're home!" I announced as I entered the house with Ichigo right behind me.
"Welcome home! How was your first day of school?" Mom asked excitedly.
"Boring/fun." We both replied simultaneously.
Mom, annoyed, ignored me and started a conversation with Ichigo.
Leaving Ichigo to talk about his first day of school with Mom, I went to the dining room where my dear sisters were.
"I'm home, Yuzu-chan, Karin-chan!"
Approaching them, I took two candies from my bag and handed them to them.
Unfortunately, neither of them could speak yet, so they could only babble something.
I then spent some time chatting with the two of them, even though their attention was on eating their candies; it was still a pleasant conversation.
After sending Ichigo to take a shower, Mom came to the dining room and asked,
"Ike-chan, did you know a new family moved into the house next door?"
"No." I replied without much interest.
"Okay, I invited them over for dinner to welcome them. So I'd like you, at least today, to be a bit more cheerful and not scare the guests." My mother had a beautiful smile on her face, but it had a strange threatening aura.
With a drop of sweat rolling down my face, I quickly nodded. "Y-yes! I'll behave!"
"I hope so. Now go take a shower!"
Like a shot, I quickly went to the bathroom.
'Dad, where are you? That beast is starting to get annoying...'
