"Miss Jade, I don't know what your deal is with Esmeralda but I would not tolerate it if she is inconvenienced by your family because of you, "Ethan warned her. "No one in your family is kind enough to not retaliate if they found out that she knew all along where you were. Do whatever the hell you want but don't implicate her in your mess."

Kierra pursed her lips. "I will not let my family harm her."

"Can you promise me that?" Ethan asked. 

She fell silent because even he knew that she couldn't do that. If her parents listened to her, she wouldn't have had to run from her wedding. She would have straight said to them in the beginning that she would not marry Oliver Jenner but here she was seeking refuge in her ex-fiance's ex-lover's house. 

"Of course, you can't, " Ethan sarcastically said. After that, he didn't say anything to her. A while later, Esmeralda came with a mug of hot coffee and took a seat next to them.
