Gougou held a pancake in one hand and a soup bowl in the other, his legs swinging under the bench, enjoying his meal.

"Do you want to stay home tomorrow morning while mom goes to collect the nets by the river, or go play with Brother Doudou?" Nanzhi asked Gougou who was obediently eating his meal. She planned to go out early tomorrow, collect the nets, and rest for the day. She had caught several dozen river clams these past days and could clean and dry them tomorrow morning. She'd make Gougou fish soup at noon, and maybe fry a plate of river shrimp.

"Gougou wants to go with mom to catch bugs." Gougou took a sip of soup, swallowed the pancake in his mouth and hastily replied.
