"Why are you looking at me like that?" Maverick asked me as I swung my legs, feeling a little adventurous out of the blue.

"Like what?" I raised my brows at him.

"It's like you want to do something naughty and want me to support you," he said, and I rolled my eyes.

It amazes me how well he can read my expressions without me hinting at it or him being able to read my mind or something.

I shook my head. 

"It's just..." I trailed off, wanting to change the topic.

"Just?" He probed more.

"You look lonely and well..." I cleared my throat.

"Well?" The Alpha looked at me with a condescending smile.

"Broken. Like someone who has fought many battles, someone who has been hurt," I said.
